Default Aftermarket shifter

I just want some opinions , any one here have a aftermarket shifter ? Is it worth it ? Is stock good enough ? I personally feel the stock one is a little soft .

It's never happened to me. The only gripe I'll give is mine is occasionally a little stubborn about going in reverse. Not a big deal.

I had a hurst in my Challenger SRT that would vibrate at times. This was in the ZR1 when I bought it so I don't have anything to benchmark it against. Right now it has about 6,400 miles so not a lot of wear-and-tear at this either. I will say I've never had a better 2-3 shift before. Not true apples-to-apples but this shifter murders the hurst I had in the Dodge.

Another question , I see there are 2 versions , one with the bigger flat shifter rod in red blue grey or silver and the other is a regular shifter rod and accepts the stock shifter . Does it even make a difference ? I really don't want a goofy giant ball shifter , I like the feel of the stock shifter .

Install is pretty easy. Only thing I ever fiddle with in the installs is where I like the shift to sit left to right. Before you put the console back on(but all shifter bolts tight), put the **** on and row the gears. I have a habit on having the shifter too far to the right and then have to take the console off, loosen the linkage bolt and slide it over to the left a bit on the last 2 shifters I have done.

I have the Callaway in my ZR1 and it is an improvement over stock. I have the MGW in my Camaro and love it.

The most difficult part for me was disconnecting the heated seat wires. I found that if you're careful you can maneuver the console top around and out of the way (with the shift **** off) and leave them connected.

I'd like to do this upgrade to my car, how much should I pay for the install ? I have tools and the skills to do but would gladly pay to have it done. I watched the u tube deal and doesn't seem to hard..... Gladly pay as long as the shop does'nt try to rip me.

Does 150 install sound about right? An hour an 1/2 to do ?

The shift **** is by LG. Works great for the NPP. You can install the shifter in about 30 mins. The hard part is disconnecting the wires for the accessory plug in the console and the heated seat switches. Four bolts and the shifter is out. Never any noises from the MGW.

$150 sounds high to me, half that would be plenty imo. Just take your time and do it yourself, you might enjoy it. Get the **** off and leave the heated seat wires connected and carefully finesse the console up and out of the way. Don't over tighten the small screws in the console lid plastic when reinstalling it.
