Long distance cam advice
Hi all,
I've been a life long fan of the Corvette and have finally signed up to the forum after lurking for sometime.
First things first is i don't own a Corvette (the minister of finanances wont let me....thats the wife) but i do own a 07 HSV GTS manual which runs the LS2.
So heres my question. I got my old (2004) Holden Commodore cammed and loved it but my wife hated the way the car shook when it idled. I have asked on a few Holden and HSV forums but i didn't really get much of an answer, is it possible to cam my LS2 manual with out to much shake. I know i'll be leaving HP on the table and i wont be getting as much of the choppy/lumpy idle as bigger cams but i need to find a middle ground so the wife wont hate the car if it shakes to much.
Thanks for any advice.
Steve

Yes its no problem just get a stealth grind custom cam made with a higher lsa (116 or so) . More lift, less duration. Ask one of the custom cam guys to set you up with a grind that will work with your setup. Patrick G or Brian Tooley are both quite good. There are many others.
Also you will want to head over to LS1tech. Tons of modified LS2 tech there.

Well have gone ahead and ordered a custom grind from local cam manufacturer. He tells me (and my tuner confirms) that i can expect a good increase in power in the low to mid range (below 5000 rpm but not much above 5000rpm) a grumpy idle but it wont shake the car overly.
No i just have to save for the install and retune

So here is the cam i am looking at getting. What are your opinions on it? Bare in mind i want a cam that isn't going to shake the crap out of the wife when she is in the car (saving me from agravation haha)

EDIT: Just realized you weren't asking about a cam for a ZR1. I would highly suggest contacting BTR or LJMS. They have proven results and can get you exactly what you want.

Hi guys. I got the cam install done a few days ago using a VCM884 228/228 114LSA as above. Very pleased with the result. Sounds cammed, hardly shakes the car at all and made a final figure of 309RWKW.
All in all very pleased with my Corvette wannabe haha.
Next job is an aftermarket clutch line. Completely over the sticky clutch pedal with the factory line.
Do or have Corvettes suffered with this problem in the States?
