So my question was never answered. Does anyone have experience with the Hoosier ? I have had the nitto NT05R's and ate them up. I do not like the larger height and had to rest the speeding due to it. I want straight line acceleration and no going sidewites when I slam 4th gear at 110 on the highway. forget about the pilots, any of them, when pushing over 750rwhp in a C6 ZO6. I'm looking for some help, not all the smart *** remarks.

But but....

There is no added height...it's unnoticed by anything, not even 1 mph at 100.

Slamming 4th at 110 with 750 on a 335 probably wouldn't break lose any tire that's worth a ****. Never heard anything about the Hoosiers so can't help you there, I would advise looking into Toyo R888.

For your info, every word in my post was true and none of it smart ***.

From my research it looks like the R888 or the R888R is the ticket. Problem is sizing. Closest to stock rim size is 315-30/20. Vs stock 335-25/20 that tire is roughly 3/4" narrower and 1/2" taller so its pretty close. A couple guys on the forum have made this size work but I sure wish Toyo had an R888R in 335-25/20. I have them on my list to call as I sent an email with no reply. If anyone has any thoughts on this please chime in. Thanks

I know ZR1 owner Mikeyfitz runs R888s in the 315/30/20 size on stock wheels at 840rwhp and was impressed by how they held it all. They look a little narrow but they do fit. However they're not ideal, toyos website recommends a max of a 11.5" wheel with the 315/20.

Btw, Toyo also makes a 345/19" size R888 that would be a better fit. To be honest, buying a 19" Replica rear or switching wheels all together is the best bet with more grip on these Vettes.

Are you talking about a Hoosier R7 or A7 or a Hoosier DR? All of the above will provide better traction then street tires in the dry but will have a very short street life and be easily cut by hazards.

The R888 will hook up in 3rd and 4th gear but not 1st and 2nd gear. Best you can do for a tire with a stiff sidewall that will hold up on the road somewhat well. Like you said though, they don't come in the proper size for stock ZR1 wheels and I wouldn't plan on them making it in that size. Most high hp ZR1 guys who want to keep stock rear brakes and run a better tire step down to a 19" rear and a 345/19

I went ahead and ordered a set of cup2's. I'll pop back in with a review of their performance in the 650-700 ballpark around spring.

Spoke w Toyo:

They have received MANY requests from Corvette owners about increasing the sizes produced for the R888R.

"I had our tech team take a look at this and they do not feel either of the 20” R888R sizes that are close to your stock size will work. They are too large diameters, around an inch taller.

OE rear us 26.6” diameter

R888R 315/30R20: 27.5”

R888R 325/30R:20

The OE tire sizes have been requested to be added, however they will not be available for a couple years."

I haven't been on a dyno yet to confirm power, but just got the cup2s put on and they work very well. I won't be going drag racing with them, but other than trying to launch hard from a dig, they work great. Full bolt on, e85, 2.6 combo. I'll put the 2.3 on after my next track day and see how they do with that.
