Default Tires for 750rwhp

For those who have been there, will Michelins handle 750rwhp ? If not are there recommendations other than drag radials? Thanks

In for responses =) It seems that with this car, you'd have to go to a 19 or 18inch setup to get any tire to hold that HP or anything over 650rwhp it seems, on the street.

R888 is as close as you will get to a DR but at 750whp with the tq a ZR1 will make at that level anything short of a DR will make the car somewhat useless. Going down to a 19 or 18" wheel has more sizing options.

Yeah, you can try putting a Toyo R888 315 20" tire on it, that's probably your best shot for a 20" tire. Also Mickey Thompson makes a 335/20" ET Street S/S drag radial that will do great. That said, a 20" wheel is not good for anything over 600whp lol. If I was you I'd look into getting a 19" replica rear and put a 345/19" Nitto NT05R on it, or drop to an 18" that will clear the carbon ceramic brakes and put an ET Street on it.

Anyone like the Sport Cups at the 700-750 level? That is the tire that I want to run and I am thinking it should be adequate for anything other than drag strips...

Anyone have any info on the new Toyo R888R and when a ZR1 size might be released?

They currently have a 315/30/20 that I've seen some guys squeeze on a 20x12, it looks a bit different than the 335 on a 12" but it works. Ask Mikeyfitz, he runs an R888 in 315. Also, the R888 is a bit more lateral traction focused, R888R is a bit more auto cross focused, like an NT01. Both are great, but the R888 non-R is a great proven tire.

I would not run that tire with that much power. I didn't have cups, but my stock PS2s were pretty sketchy even at 590whp. Definitely worth it to spend some money on good tires. I had 18s but the R888s worked great in the 600whp range. Probably be good in the 700whp range as well.

PS2 and Sport Cups are not even remotely comparable tires - and I don't think that there is a more expensive tire on the market that sport cups. Hah

There are very few cars that run a 335 / 345 - 20 tire so it makes zero sense for any manufacture to design a tire for such. There are however many 305 / 315 - 20 cars out there so I am sure that is where the proverbial manufacturing buck stops.

They are both not gonna hook as good as an R888 or drag radial though. I should have worded that differently. I just always see people spending thousands on power mods then they won't spend money on the right wheel and tire setup to support that power. Here is an example of a ZR1 that I believe made around 700whp and ran stock wheels and tires. Doesn't make sense to me but guess some people like to lose races from spinning all over the place and putting everyone in danger.

Only thing that will hold that power is a drag radial. I know you love your car, I love mine and we both dont wanna crash them in spirited driving. Get a drag radial call it a day. ON a drag radial you will enjoy the car a lot more.

A drag radial ruins the car. If I wanted a straight line car, I would have bought a million other things before the zr1.

Good point. This has been on my mind as well. I want a canyon carver primarily. I dont think there is a better tire than the cup 2 for the street thats not a racing slick.

Atleast this car seems to have crazy weight transfer with the mag ride to help it dig out. I had a car with linear rate race springs and it was like launching a skate board.

It would if the circ is off as its not speed based on GPS but I think you can fix that in HP Tuners.
