GMS is the actual "GM Employee" discount.

You either have to be related to an employee or have a good friend who will let you buy using one.

I have one that I'm getting ready to use and the prices are great.

Good Luck!!

I think you are confusing GMS with GMID.

There are are several GM discount programs out there for getting a discount on a GM product. The 3 most common

1. The GMS-GM employee or relative. I have heard of exectives at GM
giving these out as well.
2. Supplier-You work for a company that is considered a supplier for GM.
There are a few 1,000 on the list.
3. GMID-This is a certificate that an employee of GM may give to a new
or prospective customer of a GM product.

You may hear other acronyms.
GMO-GM employee purchase factory Order Thus the "O"
GMS- GM employee purchase In Stock Thus the "S"
Company Owned (PEP/GMU) GMU-GMUnit, PEP Product Evaluation Program

What happens is that most people think that GMS is the GM Supplier discount, it is not.
The certificate that you are asking for is part of the GMID program.
GM employees were allowed starting a couple of years ago to extend this discount to a "prospect".
If you can't get a discount through the other programs then this would be the one to shoot for.
If you want to get a certificate follow the links below that has more info and who you need to contact to get one.
Suppliers were being allowed to give out certificates but that expired at the end of May and they haven't extended it.

GMS would be the greatest discount and then both Supplier and the GMID are the same price. These can be given out by a GM employee.
Works the same as those supplier discount certificates. They will need the birthdate, last 4 number of the SSN number.

You can probably get one here:

This guy is a GM employee and is on the Chevy Avalanche forum.

http://www.chevyavalanchefanclub.com...c,32969.0.html

Richard Ott is the guy. If he has given away his 2 certificates for the month they have other GM employees willing to spread the good will.

or as mentioned here with post #5.

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...ID&forum_id=98

I'm not a GM employee but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

I got mine under the Supplier program myself and it will save you big bucks below MSRP.

Enjoy

Talk to your dealer. My dealer had some sort of PDF file with all of the companies and their respective codes. Or do a search on Google. Input your company name and the word supplier or GM Supplier and see if it shows up. Most companies tell their employees through some web portal since you have to go to the GM supplier website to generate the code for the discount.

I believe so. Last year when the C6s first came out, I had heard there was some sort of certificate that some of the VPs were able to give out to get a discount on the car. I don't know if this was GMS or not. We have a GM plant about 20 miles away so my dealer gets some of the purchase requests for new vehicles. You can easily get the GMID certificate.

GM Executive's can give out GMS to any prospect. It is called a LTI-GMS. That stands foe "Long Term Incentive" GMS. I have received 3 of them within the last year! Two came from a plant manager and one from a area manager at a plant.

Default Gms...

Some VPs at GM are allowed to give out five GMS numbers a month.. They can give them to anybody they want... I don not work for GM, and have been getting GMS pricing for the last 4 years.... To bad I can't use it on a z06... You need to keep the car for 6 months, before getting another number... They go by your SSN.....

Why don't you just do GMID? I know it's not the same discount but still a
pretty significant savings off of MSRP.

Be careful, the program rules changed a couple years ago. You have to keep Corvettes and a few other cars mentioned in the guidelines for TWO years now from the time of purchase if you use the discount programs.

Can a person have 2 discounts such as a GMID and a supplier.
I work for Dupont as a operator. I assume they use our paint
and we supply the buticite that is used as the laminate in the wind screen.

As far as I know you can only have one base discount(GMS,GMID,Supplier), then if you have coupons, or Credit card cash/earnings,
GM incentives then you can apply those on top.
Also Supplier might be a misnomer. Your company doesn't have to supply something to GM but must have an agreement to be a part of the supplier program.
I have seen Teachers and School districts be eligible for the supplier. I don't think they are suppling any material contributioins to the production of GM products but are eligible by their agreement with GM.
