Default internet scam on vette hound site

Hello all. Well, when they say deal is too good to be true...they're right!

If you go to Vette Hound right now, you will see a 2006 Z with 12K on clock going for $23900!!!

The odometer pic shows 1386 miles while the description says 12K miles approx.

I emailed the guy.

Seems the poor fellow has had some problems. You see he bought his Z in the "US" and due to troubles moved back to England. Seems we must use a third party to handle the transaction. Won't use the telephone...poor chap can't afford his cell bill perhaps.

I tried to contact the Vette Hound administration but my messages don't go through. Their site only has "contact admin" in the very bottom of the page which seems to indicate they really don't want to be bothered.

If anyone knows a better way to contact Vette Hound, please advise.

So, if any of you want a great (fake) car at a (fake) price....send the guy a blank check! ha!

I saw the same thing. There are alot of vettes really cheap. There were a few where they were selling cause the owner is "going overseas". There were a bunch in the low 20's and if you google the VIN they pop up for sale on ebay or AT for a much higher price.

You might try the link to administration. Give them a chance.

thanks for reply. Yes, I tried this option and left a message yesterday afternoon. Last night I rec'd a message that my email reply didn't get through. I've tried again today and will see if it makes it there. I do wonder however why they don't have a larger "contact us" link on their site. The "admin" contact is in very tiny print at very bottom of page which seems an obvious indication to me anyway, that they really don't wish to be contacted directly...doesn't seem very customer-friendly in other words...see ya.

Default Vette Hound Scam

I have to agree with you, I inquired on a couple of ads and recieved email response with very broken english that did not even address my questions. I too tried to contact Vette Hound using their link and got the response "undeliverable address. Maybe Vette Hound is part of the scam???????????????

I hope not! It doesn't give me any confidence in using their site quite frankly if they are unreachable/uninterested. We'll see.

I found this link and thought you might find it interesting. It looks like there may be some valid listings on the site. Mostly looks a bit suspect, though.
I hope this is of some help.

Prices seem really low so I inquired about one that is near my area.

Will verify what I can and report back.

Just heard back from the guy and this is what he said:

Me:

Can you provide more pictures? Vin #, autocheck report, etc?

Also, is the price of 25,000 correct?

Fred:

here the VIN: 1G1YY26U375118647,for the moment that is all the photo that i have ,but i will shipp the car to you and i will give to you 10 days to inspect the car,the after you decide if you want to keep the car then you will send me the money....so if you are intrested send me your full name and address so i can start the shipping to you.....ok?

Does anyone think that sounds fishy? I told the guy I live in the area and can just stop by his place so we will see what he says.

We will see what he says back about me coming by there. I have no problem driving a couple hours to uncover a scammer website to help everyone out.

And if I find out its actually real then we can all have vettes since the prices are so low.

I think he will come back and ask you to pay for the shipping charge in advance. This is the scam.

Cant wait to hear what his next move is.

I wonder what the shipping company thinks about them being mentioned in the scam.

If you google the "shipping company" he referenced you will see that it is a medical supply reseller in europe.

Who can we report this to that would actually do something?

Default Vette hound ads are definitely a scam

I also emailed a couple of the ads and here is the reply I received. Sounds like it could be the same outfit, they just show the vehicles being in different cities.

"I received your email regarding my car.The car is in perfect
condition,,with no scratches on it,no dammage. This car has never been
accidented. You will receive the car along with all papers and recipts that you
needs to register it in your name. This car have USA papers.
You will receive the TITLE,keys, owner manual...etc.
Here is how I want to go about delivery and payment for the car which
will be through GPSS Delivery and will also give you the chance
to inspect the car before I receive the payment for it.
The car is located in Florida USA.I'm in UK with some car's fro sale.
I will explain to you step by step how this will work.
A. First you have to send me your shipping information (your name and
address).
1. After I receive your shipping info, I'll contact
GPSS Delivery and tell them to start the shipping to your address as
the intended receiver.
2. GPSS Delivery will check the car, also the legal papers to
see that everything is OK with it.
B. You will receive a notification from GPSS Delivery as a
confirmation that the car is in their custody and also, that the car has
been tested".

Sounds like the Nigerian bank scams of a few years back.

Vetthound has been the site for scammers for a long time. No reason to believe it will ever change. 90 % of the ads on there are scams. Pictures are stolen off of other sites and listed for sale.
Best just to stay off that site. Just send the scammer a big F. U. and move on.
