I thought I would offer to pass along my contact list to anyone searching for a new Corvette.
I have been shopping for a new Corvette for several months now. I found it very difficult to find a dealer that has both good pricing and good selection. Most of the color and option choices are no longer available from the CF venders on a 2008 or 2009 as they have sold out and are now pushing 2010 cars. (Remember, the new 2008 or 2009 models have $4000 cash back or 0% offer.)
If you are searching for a new 2008 or 2009 Corvette, drop me an email and I can give you the contact info for a dealer with over 60 Corvettes with great pricing.
Examples:
New 2008 JSB Z06, with 2LZ for $57.9k.
New 2009 Z06 with 2LZ, Nav, and chrome wheels for $65k.
I also found a used 2008 Z06, VY, 2LZ, Nav, chrome wheels, 22k miles for $46.9k

Why would anyone buy a 2008 for $4000 off if you can get the same $4000 off on a 2009?
I realize there was a price increase between 2008 and 2009, but there is also an extra year depreciation on the 2008 before you get it off the dealer lot. Do you want a car that has sat for two years? Did it sit out in the weather for all of that time? A 2008 is not a new Corvette - it just has not had an owner. A recent 2009 may be a much better car.
We all have our preferences, and I don't mean to be critical of others that may have their reasons for going with the 2008. Just expressing an opinion. I think that I would prefer a used 2008 with low miles and been cared for - and let someone else take the depreciation.

My Z06 Saga
Cartop2,
I tend to agree with you and in the end I bought a 2009, but it was a long road getting there.
I got started Z shopping back in Jan when a local dealer offered a certified used 2006 Z06 for $37.9k. This really took me by surprise and I wasn’t quite ready to buy a 2nd Corvette (actually, with my 85 it would have been my third). The math made sense. Sell my C6 coupe for $30k and buy a Z06 for $38k.
I sold my C6 coupe and then began looking at used Z06’s. I found most of the 2006 and 2007 Z06 cars were priced high and were either beat or had no warranty left. A good example is a 2007 Z06 at our local BMW dealer for $62k! I gradually worked my way up to 2008 models. The new 2008 interior, new steering, and new key fob were nice and they still had warranty. I was working on a used 2008 JSB 2LZ Z06 with 3k miles and the owner would not go below $58k. I found a used VY 2008 Z06, 2LZ, chrome wheels, aftermarket Nav, and 22K miles for $46.9k in Boston. I almost bought this car and last time I checked it was still there.
Then, the new $4000 rebate came out. In my opinion, this made a new car the way to go. I took the GM inventory list and started contacting the dealers for new 2008 price quotes. I found some new 2008 Z06's that I thought were great buys. The best was a JSB Z06, 3LZ option group, chrome wheels, and Nav in Pittsburgh. MSRP was over $83k and they offered it for $59.9k. I waffled over night and it was gone! There is another very nice 2008 JSB 3LZ Z06 in CO, but they want $77k for it. The other problem is some dealers are not familiar with out of state deals. They want to charge you sales tax for their state and huge doc fees and then even add dealer prep fees.
There is a new 2008 JSB Z06, 2LZ, polished wheels for $57.9k in NJ. Last time I checked it was still available. These new 2008 cars come with full warranty and you are the first owner. You have no worries about false Carfax reports or previous paint damage and this one is priced lees than used ones.
In late Aug I expanded my search to 2009 models. Only a few dealers that have cars are competitive on the price. I found a new JSB 2009, 2LZ, chrome wheels, and Nav in VA for $65k. I drove down there a few days later and it was also sold. They are very sly and when you get there they say it just sold and try to sell you another car.
I then found a dealer in CT that had over 60 new Corvettes and he has outstanding pricing. He had the exact car I wanted including the 2-tone interior. I bought a one-way flight for $102 and flew to CT last Friday. They were excellent to deal with. No surprises. Only took a few minutes to do the paperwork. The 5 ½ hour drive home was great except for a few rude folks from NJ.

Sounds like you did really well in the hunt and ended up a happy owner.
By the way - thank you for offering to share the information from your hunt.
