Default Halltech Ultraleggera Z06 FS

This is a real sacrifice for me, but my eyesight is getting worse every year. Two years in a row, I have had others drive our car at the Katech #39 Autobahn Event.

This car is super streetable, and can be driven across country no problem. We have over $65,000 invested Katech high performance parts, engine and in lightweight carbon fiber/titanium and other items which has one of the largest thread followings on the forum. ZR1 Carbon Ceramic brakes/carbon fiber driveshaft/ and even a 9 lbs $1800 Lithium Battery make this ride the ultimate street machine. Halltech's all new GT2 DRED hood shaves off another 12 lbs. Here is the entire list:
Halltech Ultraleggera Carbon build sheet so far 4.32lbs/hp (2940 lbs/680 HP)

Halltech Ultraleggera Carbon build sheet so far 4.32lbs/hp (2940 lbs/680 HP)

This car has a better power/weight ratio than the Buggati Veyron or the Porsche GT2-RS

12,781 on the clock, but the Katech Track Attack motor has 3,000 miles, the wheels, tires and brakes around 1200 miles. Many parts are like new.

This was a two year project car that has around $60,000 in parts. Much of the labor was gratis or done by our guys or Katech. The battery is a Lithium 9lb battery that costs $1800 retail (Not a misprint). Even the brake calipers has special titanium bolts and bleed screws to save weight. The hood mounting bolts and washers are titanium as well as the entire exhaust system and mufflers.

The carbon fiber driveshaft saved 5 lbs, and cost over $2,600 including installation.

The only problem we have ever had with the car is the windows not indexing properly. Just a reflash by the dealer of the Body Control Module took care of it. Never an accident or any type of drag racing. It has seen the dyno and Autobahn track. Driven three times by Johnnie O'Connell, and other drivers like Jason Harding of Katech and Jim Painter of Painter racing.

It keeps up with a 650 HP C6.R Special Build in the straights, but street tires spoil any chance of ever matching it in the turns.

The ironic part is that my eyesight is 20/15 in each eye, considered pilot vision, but the Myasthenia Gravis causes the eyelids to droop, blocking my eyesight. I have discovered a drug that works for this, but it is not FDA approved for this auto-immune disease.

Talked my Dr into letting me go on this drug 6 months ago. I decided to take it, and thought would stop the auto-immune response causing this, and it did. The problem is the $300 per month cost of the meds. I am in the class of non-insurables due to many issues from the past. Heart surgury, cancer, blah blah blah, but I pay as I go.

You might think that I would be a perfect political advocate of free health insurance, but WHY SHOULD ANYONE ELSE PAY FOR MY HEALTH ISSUES? This type of insane entitlement mentality is what has nearly bankrupted this country, and is going to bankrupt many states this year.

I hear the left say, "well why should other people pay for your emergency care when you go into the hospital?" Duh? They shouldn't and they don't. There are a lot of people that think others should pay. I pay my hospital and Dr. bills just like any other bills I receive.

Make health insurance transportable and sold from state to state? Yep. I had insurance in CA that covered my cancer treatment, but it would not cover me in Wisconsin (Kaiser)

Pay as you go works for most: I go into the hospital for emergency care, and they send me the bill, I pay the bill. How did that get left out of the discussion? Why is it assumed that everyone that drops by the ER for a sore throat plans to stiff the hospital.

I got a bill for $100,000 for my cancer treatment, I negotiated the bill with the Dr. and Hospital, and I paid the bill for $25,000 back in 2005. Hospitals overbill everyone, including the insurance companies to make up for some that abuse the ER.

The bottom line is Obamacare if available in total today would not only be immoral, it is the last notch in the total collapse of our freedom and will gut our country faster than Sarah's daughter guts a Halibut. We need to help folks that cannot afford to go through with treatments they need and medicines to keep them alive, but mandating you buy health insurance, so that guys like me can take from everyone else is the ultimate Socialist society.

How about this idea. You local hospital allows you to contract with them for say $300 per month to cover your eventual stay in their hospital. Make it a national plan so that if you go in the hospital in CA and have the hospital plan in Wisconsin, it transfers. You build coverage over the years until you have full coverage or full vesting. Hospitals would essentially become your insurance company. You use their onstaff Drs. for any operations. There could be family plans, etc. The actuaries could figure it all out.

Need prescriptions? They could be available for additional costs, like maybe 1/3 the cost, since the companies that develop drugs sell them for around 1000% over the actual cost of the drug. Research and development should stay private with Fed, state, and help from drug stocks. If we take away the profit from drug companies, good-bye new drugs.

Sorry for the rant.

Real curious to see how much this goes for, most people expect to get about .50 on the dollar for mods, but who knows. Maybe it will be exactly what somebody is looking for in a car.

This car is not just a modded car, but a project car, with two years of Katech, Halltech, and custom Carbon Fiber titanium parts that with a power to weight ratio the same or better than the $250,000 Porsche GT2-RS and Bugatti Veyron, makes it a one of a kind.

Unfortunately, I have decided to keep the car, and put toothpicks under my eyelids and get to the Texas mile this year.

After two years of blood, sweat and tears, I have only put 135 miles on the new GT2 hood, and that just makes me sick.

We will likely get this ride to a couple shows and events this year, and pursue 2800 lbs. I know.

By the way, thank you for the kudos and kind remarks toward me and our project car.

Jim Hall

Jim Hall, beautiful car and very interesting health care rant. To have spent as much as you have on your Z06 it must be important to you. Glad to hear you found a way to keep it.

My guess is you'll agree that the problems that can be solved with money are the easy ones...
