Default Info on 08 C6

Hello. I am new to the forum and been searching for a C6 corvette with LS3, black or white and preferably Z51 package. I'm located in NoCal and found one in SoCal and would like your opinions before I make a purchase. This one is a 2008 C6 with 55k, but I cannot tell what trim and if it Z51 or not. Can you guys tell from the pics? And is 27.9k a good price for car? Thanks in advance.

Have someone look inside the engine bay up front on the passenger side to see if there is a power steering oil intercooler or just a few bends in the 1/4 " tubing between the power steering reservoir and the lower power steering unit. The Z51 will have a cooling reservoir that has a of bunch exposed fins while the standard C6 has only the bent tubing. Good luck

Yea I don't think it is a true Z51. Is 27.9k a good price for a C6 base 6spd with 55k miles? Thanks guys.

IMO 28k is a bit high. I think there are much better deals for 28, or ones similar to this for less money.

I think its a good price being your out in CA... cars tend to be higher out there and same here in TX

Also the 08 model has the LS3 motor so i think its worth it, heck offer them a grand less after you have it checked out

Yes they are unfortunately. I also found an 09 LT1 base same color with 24k miles for 30.5k. Worth the extra 2.5k for 30k less miles and 1 year newer?

If anyone has a black LS3 C6 for sale under 30k I'm interested.

The year newer and has 1/2 the mileage and then some.. Yes i would be more interested in the 09 model if it had a manual tranny I like manual over automatics because its a sports car and i feel like i'm driving it shifting gears.

Remember this: and sorry for the rant

Hard to think about when buying a car BUT when you buy a car and your looking at it and test driving it think about how it will sell when your ready to change cars. I know its tough to think about because some say i will never sell, but if your a car person you will sell to buy something else down the road. Make sure the car is well put together, run a car fax and look it over good, also the least amount of owners the better...and i notice a lot of guys are looking for more options on the car. manual transmissions sell better than automatics. Yes they all sell but the manual tranny is more desired.

Have dealer/ owner send you photo of label inside of glove box. That label shows code for Z51 or not. I personally, would only require Z51 if I were going to run on road courses. If I bought a non Z51 I would consider upgrading shocks and sways, both really inexpensive. The photo of the black car's wheel shows aftermarket disks and caliper covers, Hard to know what is underneath those heat retaining things. The trash is a good place to put the covers if you buy that car. Car is lovely.

Hey man, I actually own a Z51 and can tell you by the interior of this 1 that this is not a Z51 car. It does not have the magnetic ride control beside the Traction Control button. Hope this helps. PS wish you were in the NC area, I have my 08 with 55k miles for sale, it isnt stock though lol. Happy Searching!

Also those rotors are aftermarket, the factory Z51 brakes have drilled holes all over them , not the slots like these.

here they are :

Kyle, I will be the outlier here that says I don't think it is a great deal, and being in CA has little to do with it. If you are willing to travel to SoCal from NoCal, then get on several sites (cargurus.com, cars.com, autotrader, etc.), and put in the appropriate parameters for what you want to see, and use a 500 mile radius, and you might find a greater number of cars matching your needs. Also, you might consider raising the miles number to 80K, as even that is only 10K per year, so still a reasonable number of miles, and you should not have to worry about any more issues at that mileage vs. 55K.

Though many people don't like to use it, I would also recommend a search on CL for "bay area", and put in the parameters.

Since I cannot see the car, it may be spectacular, and worth every penny. But, based simply on "2008, 55K mi, and likely a base model" it appears to be about $3K high, to me. JMO...

Kyle...just a follow-up. here is a 2008 white 'vert in concord, less money, fewer miles, drop dead gorgeous. it may not be what you want, but i send this to you so you can see what else is available before you jump on something that might cost more than it should. judge for yourself....

Yea it's not a Z51 guys. It doesn't have to be though, but I'd like one. My MUST haves are: LS3, BLACK or WHITE, COUPE, MANUAL. I prefer lower miles and would like Z51. IF I could get a steal on one with high miles then I would def consider it. Thanks for all the help so far guys, seems like an awesome community and gives me even more incentive to purchase a corvette. (I'm coming from an Evo btw)

Take your time looking, dont rush. You will find one around you. That one looks like a base model, and not that 50k on a vette is a lot but I'm sure you can find a better deal. Be patient and find what you want.
