Default What should I expect if I wait until winter to buy a C6?

I know Corvettes are seasonal cars, I'm in no huge hurry to buy, and I'm sure some of you are quite knowledgeable about the Corvette market during the winter months. What should I expect if I wait until say, December/January?

Looking for either a lower mileage 2006/07 3LT Z51 around $22k-$24k or a lower mileage 2008+ 3LT Z51 (preferably a GS ) for around $27k-$33k.

Great question. I am replying because I am equally interested in your same specs.

You should expect to wait several months until the weather gets better in order to enjoy your purchase.

That's awesome. Texas affords me the same benefit, (98% year round) but I daily my Silverado.

I'm interested as well, I'm hoping dealers will be more willing to come down.

I have been looking for a ZR1 and was shocked when I did a search on this forum that in the colder months last year they were 5 - 7k cheaper! Not sure if that was weather or because the new Z06 was coming out and that hurt sales on the Zr1. I'm going to guess prices will dip 8 - 10%.

fwiw, these cars will wholesale at the same price they sell at dealers.

The deals are the 80k mile plus cars, but those dropped to 17-20k and haven't moved much further in the past few years.

At the end of the day, I think there will be always someone willing to shell out 15k for 100k C6.

The 2005's seem to be the oddballs, steering wheel, odd PCM, C5 style diff, airbag light on the console.

My 2007 has served me well now for 2 years, great daily drivers.

Convertibles have a larger decrease in price than the coupes in colder climates.
If the car has been on the dealer lot for a while, you can usually get a decent discount.
If you wait until late January, the dealers may hold onto the car for March and the start of Corvette season. Mid November to mid January may be your best bet.
Web sites like car gurus offer the listings with details about how long the car has been on the market.
Good luck.

I have an absolutely stunning 09 ,Z-51,Manual, convertible with 34,000 miles that I am selling to make room for a new C7. I am serious about selling this car for more than trade in value--your chance to get a great car at a great price ($32.7K). I am original non-smoking owner! Contact me if interested. Not to far away, am in San Diego

As a buyer I would be looking right now or wait till spring. By the time you get to summer about the only ones left are either not very nice cars are way overpriced and that is why they are still for sale.

Winter is a sellers market and not a buyers market. As a seller I always sell my vettes in the Jan to Mar period on eBay when there is less completion and more buyers. Never has taken longer than a week to get one sold at my asking price. I have found they sell very fast for top dollar then.

When you get to the April and on period there are a ton of cars for sale and less buyers so you get less for your car.

OP, Just talked with a dealer about this. Right now, dealers are not trying to buy Vettes. When we reach late November, money gets tight, so Corvette purchases get put off. While your choices may be lean, if you find one you like, dealers should be very negotiable trying to sell any Corvette inventory they have. When we reach February (March in colder regions) dealers are trying to stock up on Corvettes knowing that when spring hits, Vettes sell. Rule of thumb has always been, when the top goes down (or the targa top comes off), the price goes up.

Hey Joe,
You know that the new vettes do not leak like all the old ones-right? Also many folks will tell you that the convertible with the top up is quieter than the coupe. Also my asking price is usually about what you would expect to pay for a coupe as nice as this one. Can't blame me for trying-right?
You will find one soon I'm sure--good luck!
