2005 DSOM 6-speed Coupe $16,999 OBO
SOLD SOLD SOLD
Criticism/advice accepted, as are any reasonable offers. I did a national Autotrader search, and this is easily the lowest priced 100K-125K miles manual Z51 in the US. So, I think it is a tough time to sell, but a fair price to sell at. Am I fooling myself?
Listed for sale in Chadds Ford, PA is a nice "daily driver" C6 Corvette. It has been fun and faithful for 2 years but I have just upgraded a bit, so the "DSOM C6" is on the block! It has 120K miles on it; I enjoyed the last 18K
The GOOD: Had clean Carfax and Autocheck when I bought it. Still should I would think. All recalls done. Runs very nicely -- conservative performance mods include Vararam intake and Complete Street Performance tune (379 RWHP ~ 440 HP at crank [vs. 400 stock]). Z51. Recent brakes and new battery. Includes smoked glass AND body-color tops. Modest custom touches include painted calipers, lightly smoked taillights, subtle Corvette Racing insignia, body-color interior trim. Interior is really nice, probably 8.5/10. Except as noted below, every switch, light and control works perfectly. Cold AC.
The BAD: mild road rash on front bumper cap -- which I periodically fix with "Dr. Colorchip" (kit included). The odd minor scratch (but you need to look close) on rest of body. Smoked top also shows some wear. Overall, paint is still very glossy (I'm told it probably was repainted at some point) and I would rate exterior as 7.5/10. Tires are not new. Fronts have ~50% of tread life remaining; rears about 60%. 2005's sometimes suffer from occasional balky first gear engagement from rest -- double clutching then required (not a clutch or synchro issue). Radio works great, but volume control **** is funky; will maintain volume once set, however. Some water spotting on hatch and passenger-side window. Perhaps a detailer can remove them -- I couldn't. Not a visibility issue but can be seen in some light conditions. Airbag light stays on. I have not bothered to remove the seat and play with it to see if it is the connector vs. a module.
More detailed pix on request.
Thanks for looking...

I really thought the price was very fair until I read about the clutch issue. Having gone through a few myself in my C5Z and in one of my C6's, I can say that it would worry me. In my mind, im thinking "another $1500 to deal with clutch stuff", and thats IF they dont find anything else wrong with the tranny.
The airbag light prevents any kind of registration from being completed here in Commiefornia (unless you know someone) so theres that as well.
The rest of the stuff is a nonfactor for me if I were looking to purchase another C6. Love the rims, and it looks very well cared for. Good luck with the sale, fellow 'vette brother.

- NOT A CLUTCH ISSUE!!! This car had a high-performance clutch installed at 100K. What I disclosed is a well-documented 2005 C6 tranny annoyance -- please see this post from 2005: https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...irst-gear.html. There was a TSB on this, and many got it fixed under warranty. But, it often crops up after warranty expired -- and it did with my car. The fix is indeed very expensive -- but it is something easy to get used to so I decided not to have a rebuilt tranny installed. Do I need to reword this so it is crystal clear that it is a well-known and relatively easy to live with tranny issue? Not sure how you read "bad clutch" into my ad...
- Each state is different. This car has passed stringent PA inspection with light on -- it is not a problem here, and would not be in DE or NJ AFAIK. There are two possibilities to fix. One involves a connector under the driver's seat which often comes loose (do a search). VERY cheap fix if that is the case. Need to remove seat; I have not done so. The guy who did my inspection thinks it is the air bag module (he is NOT a Vette expert). I've had several quotes on that -- worst case seems to be about $600 (you can buy a "module for ~ $100 online, but there is labor and it may not be the complete fix). Because it passed inspection, and I (and passengers) always wear the belt, I chose not to OK the replacement (or bother removing the seat since the light does not annoy me).
Thanks for taking the time to respond
