Z06 V.S. C6 w/ Mods
I will be in the market for either a 06 Z06 or an 06 C6 w/ mods this sping but am not sure what the benifits of each would be. I hope to spend in the $60k range either way.
If I go C6 w/ mods I want to install a supercharger, cam, headers, exhaust, ect. With these mods it seems that I would gain a few HP more than the Z06 but at what cost to the engine/drivetrain longevity, handling and braking. How about traction, with an expected 500+ RWHP would I need a tire upgrade, Transmission (manual), or rear differential.
As for the mods any recomendations on Lingenfelter, Callaway or self installed. I live in New England so I think I would either use Callaway or self installed mods. I know Callaway offers a warranty which is nice on a $60k machine. As for self installed it seems that I can upgrade the engine and add some suspension and braking mods for the same cash as Callaways engine mods.
Is the Z06 that much better of a vehicle than the C6 w/ mods????
Any help is appreciated.

If you need a warranty,
or if you are satisfied with running 130mph in the 1/4 mile,
go with the ZO6.
If you are willing to sacrifice the warranty,
or if you need a removable top,
go with an APS turbo on a C6 coupe/vert.

Best of all worlds combined: C6, MN6, Z06 brakes, Z51 sways, F55, Dynatech 1 7/8 headers with X, Procharger, Ron Davis 57 mm radiator, Meziere elec waterpump. Fast, stealthy, reliable! Screw the warrenty!

Dude, go for the Z06...period! I have one, and when it was BONE STOCK, that puppy ran 11.4's to 11.30's on EMT's all day long. I then installed: Air-Charger cai kit, AR LT headers, 160* stat and tuning; it ran a couple of 10.90's @ 130 passes on stock EMT'S...yes, EMT's here in the heat of Dallas Texas!
The best thing is, I get about 26mpg cruising at 80 mph while blasting my XM radio and drinking my favorite cool soft drink. This is a car that can run up to 200 mph, run 10's, do very well around curves, stop like a **** and knock off about 99% of the cars out there! It can do all these on stock tires.
Now, to duplicating that with a regular C6 would take some CASH and it will depreciate more in the long run. Besides, the Z06 looks much better!
Hope this helps.
