I am very heavily thinking about supercharging my 2006 C6 Vert with the manual tranny.

Being a Vert, I do not plan on taking it to the track and busting a tranny like I did with my 2006 C6 coupe after 25 passes.

But, I still want a reliable car that I can drive anywhere without worry and put back to stock easily just in case I want to trade it or if something breaks.
(no flames please)

My choices are:

1- Magnacharger

2- Procharger

3 - ECS Novi package

Pricewise I believe the Magnacharger is the highest once the hood is added, close to $10,000 after painting and install

The Procharger seems to be around $8000 installed

I think the ECS Novi package is around $7000, I saw it once for $6000 a while ago.

As for reliability, Magnacharger has went hand in hand with Corvettes for a long time, and I did like the Eaton on my 03 Cobras.

I've also had a Novi 2000 and Vortech on my Mustangs, I just did not like the fact I had to tap the oil pan. Makes it less reversible.

The Procharger seems to be a nice kit, self contained, but I hear the brackets are weak, they tend to run hot, and there have been AC problems requiring an unwanted trip to the service departments of the local dealer.
I know the Novi brackets are the best.

As for performance, I think 450-500rwhp is more than adequate, most important is I don't want to grenade a piston due to detonation in extremely hot or cold weather.

I am looking for comparable or slightly more acceleration than a C6 Z06 on the move, I know from a dig my puny runflats will be overwhelmed.
Chances are I will hardly ever use the power, but I like brief spurts of accleration.
For instant throttle response I would think the Magnacharger would be the most entertaining.

Advice, experience, and recommendations will all be appreciated.

I've dealt with ECS before as well as Cartek and I like and trust both shops and they are both fairly local (within 1&1/2 hours).

I also have more local shops I would trust with the installs as long as I was running the manufacturers provided tune (Procharger or Magnacharger).

I do believe the Magnacharger comes with a 3yr/36K warranty on the engine and tranny with a stock pullied kit.
It covers $5000 towards engine or $2500 toward tranny work I believe.

All of the kits you've listed have their advantages.I suggest you do ALOT of research. I can offer you my opinion. Your requirements were very similar to mine..if you don't mind changing the hood....I strongly suggest the Magnuson. The car runs cooler then it did (after the T stat change) gets the same mileage...idles stock.......makes gobs of low end power (right where I want it). I have been very happy with my decision.

I am a FI "newbie" , but I have about 3k on my Procharger - Totaly stock otherwise the car is putting out 507.9 rwhp and 457.7 rwtq .
As per power , I love the linear delivery and the way it drives totaly stock on the low end - but it's not everyones cup of tea , I know a few people who were dissapointed as they were expecting a crazy tire shredding experiance with tons of low end thrust - Its just not there with the cetrifugals ...
So far "fingers crossed" I have not had any reliability issues , with the exception of the A/C ( I think thats my post you were reffering to ) and I cant really blame the S/C for that .
Heat however , is an issue - I did most of the Big Bollas mods and cut off the top of the air dam , and since then temps have not been too bad . I will probably be putting in a Meth kit for added saftey ...
The Car is faster than the Z on the highway now ( I did a scientific test ) and I love it - If you want to take a long drive up youre welcome to come for a ride .

Yours was one of the AC issues I have read about.

I'd love to check your car out, but I get all stressed out when I go near NYC and the GW bridge.

I hate traffic and congestion, my blood pressure starts to skyrocket.

The Magnacharger really appeals to me the most so far, but the Procharger is a close 2nd especially when you factor in $$$.

i noticed your not to far from me. im always in easton and nazareth everyday. i have the novi 1500 on mine from ecs. im actually headed there tommorrow to put headers on my car. i let ya take a look at the car and see what ya think. i hit 525rwhp and 462tq. im hopin to hit 550-560 tommorrow.

Check out this C6 that was brought into my shop with only about three hundred miles on it. 323 rwhp stock, 470 with the addition of the ATI ProCharger, with no other mods. For a comparison, a new Z06 on my dyno makes 430 to 440 rwhp.

Hi Yell03,
I think taking Greek C6 up on his offer would be a wise choice before making any decisions. Our Paxton kit does not have any overheating or AC problems, plus the low end is much much better than any other centrifugal charger kit out there at this time. Which is why our torque numbers are generally higher than other kits as well.

Paxton is now offering the head units self contained as well as oil fed, so there is no need to tapp the oil pan if you do not want to. We will be installing all our in house kits (unless requested not too) with the oil feed. I like the lack of maintenance it offers, and is easy to do when the kit is being installed. Although both will work fine, so it's personal preference.

It depends on what you want out of your car. Driving a Maggie car is like driving a big block car lots of tq. and hp down low. The others make more power but at higher rpms like a hot small block car. I went with the Maggie. Take a look at the rpms when you are driving and see what rpm you usualy drive at and you will see that for a street car a Maggie is hard to beat. It makes gobs of power and tq down low and if set up rite will make more than you can use.

If the Maggie did not require a new hood and dollar for dollar was the same price that is most likely the route I would take if and when I go with a supercharger.
