Highest HP with the A6?

I actually had Pat tune the transmission. Mine made 724rwhp and so far so good, no issues at all...I plan on doing a ysi build right after the summer and will definitely see how it holds up lol

I had made at least 40 ten second passes and about 15000 miles on boost before mine went. Now with 1000 hp I'm a bit nervous about going to the track even with a built trans.

This car. Austin's slow C6 compared to his black one. Full AC, stock seats, etc. Best is an 8.7 but he's hunting for 8.5's around 160. YSI supercharged.

Kelly Bise may have the most power put through a 6L80 in his Grandsport. KP Racing built that car (not sure who built the trans) and it makes about 1500. We'll see how it performs at Royal Purple at the Quick 30 event in 2 weeks.

Rossler built Thurik's 6L80 that was in his Grandsport. Dallas Performance car making 900ish. It took lots of abuse.

I am running 1000 through mine now. Performs perfectly on the street, but I still am not convinced it would last long at the track. Probably be ok to go a few times a season, but not regularly.

A buddy of mine is about to put a YSI on a 2012 GrandSport A6 and we are hoping the trans lasts a while.
I know Century was having some issues keeping them together a few years ago, maybe they have them figured out now. They do offer a warranty on the Super 6l80 for $4400. Pain in the a$$ to pull one out to keep repairing it..

Yeah I wouldn't trust any of them to last racing regularly... Even a Level 7 RPM 4l60 is on borrowed time at 1k rwhp.

Tune is Key. And when Mike Whitehouse has a dedicated customer, like Austin, he will tune the A6 to the edge. Nobody has even come close to his customer's track times and lived.

I think boost by speed and locking up the 3 disk convertors could maybe save the RPM 4L65E which are pretty tough.
but enough racing will burn them up at 1k and the 4L80E or power glide or turbo 400 swaps are the only viable solution above that.
uber expensive to retro fit into a vette though!
anyone interested in the new 8 spd?? it will take a while to develop a standalone controller but a stock c7 "standalone" computer could do it.
that tranny is pretty tough and eventually may be the hot ticket.
I'm hoping to swap one into a c5 TTiX car once Rodney gets it all figured out in a couple of years.

Personally, I would not do a built trans until my stock 6L80 was broken. I've seen so many guys run problem-free with their properly tuned stock 6L80s with adequate cooling, then get a built aftermarket trans with the aftermarket trans shop's tune and they constantly had tranny issues after that. The built trannies don't seem to last as long as the stock ones. Won't name shop names. The fast A6 guys know who they are. I have seen some good reliability come from Circle D's built 6L80 and 6L90 transmissions however. Most of the really fast CTS-Vs run that box. But again, I hate seeing anybody fix something that's not broken yet.

I spoke with CircleD about doing a trans build in my truck. Their all out build is the price of a good used car.
I'm going to try a good tune first.
