Default Sunoco GT 100 fuel question

My local Sunoco in Wrightsville PA is installing a pump for GT 100 race fuel. Is there anyway this fuel would benefit my supercharged ls2 or would it just be a waste of money and I should stick with the ultra 93?

For local driving it won't make a difference.
You would most likely notice the difference at the track.

Save your money. 93 is fine for street driving.

Higher octane fuel has only one beneficial feature - it allows an engine to run at higher temperatures with more advanced ignition timing under higher levels of compression witout detonating / knocking. Higher octane fuel does NOT have more potential energy and will not make an engine perform better unless that engine is knocking. On modern engines with knock sensors, higher octane fuel may make the engine run better if the knock sensors are retarding the ignition timing, which hinders performance. High octane fuel does not burn cleaner, it does not clean your engine, it does not increase horsepower or torque (unless you are experiencing knock), it does not smell better, it does not increase fuel economy (unless you are experiencing knock) and is not better for the environment.

With a 100 octane rating, Sunoco 260 GT will allow significantly increased boost levels in supercharged or turbochared applications.

if you get the car tuned on 100, it will absolutely make a difference. run more power, safer. but if you stay on your current tune, it will not yield any power... but run safer.

What ever you do, once you fill it with 100 and your tuner tunes for it......Dont go back to the 93 unless you first go have him flash the 93 tune back in,,or you do it yourself

You will be able to run about 2 lbs more of boost OR (NOT "AND" I said "OR) 2 degrees more timing while on 100% 100 octane! That's a HUGE power increase!!

So from what I'm reading here I guess the way to go would be to get tuned for it. But then I would be limited to the range of 1 tank of gas since I'm not aware of any other stations providing this fuel.

The alternative is getting meth installed, and then get tuned for it...

I have meth but I consider it more of a safety thing. I just don't trust an alky kit enough to get a tune that would absolutely depend on it. If it would fail to come on I wouldn't know until something bad happened.

I just saw this new fuel at the gas station I always use and was checking if its something I should take advantage of.

If you know you are going to beat the hell out of your car (track events, etc) then putting some 100 in there is cheap insurance. Since the car was tuned without it, it becomes your safety net from a tank of bad gas etc.

Do you need to, no. Do I use it in my car when I'm beating on it hard, you bet.

just remember, no lead! or you will foul 02 sensors. So no AVGAS
