Etmc c6 mini tub on shop car
I figured that because of FI that you need a mini tub that i would post this in the FI section! LOL after having issues hooking with over 1000HP and turning it down even to try to help, i just decided to mini tub the vette. i wanted to run a 19X13 with a 345 tire under it and NOT put fender flares on it.
so here is what i came up with last weekend.
FIRST: pulled the amp/Nitrous/and CO2 bottle out of the hatch
Second took some measurements of my new wheels i sent off and had widened and did some cutting!
After cutting i fitted the wheels back in and pushed the tire all the way up in the wheel well to make sure i had clearance everywhere. after that was good i scuffed up the fiberglass to fit my tubs in there.
Had to do some trimming on the tube as they are the Lingenfelter c5 tubs i used. i cut off abotu 6 " on them and had to do alot of work on the bottom to make them fit ok. after fitting i put 3 coats of Fiberglass on it.
that was enough work for the first day...lol
next i sprayed some under coating on the bottom of the tubs
Now to the other side and some finishing up work:
[I]
fitting the carpet was a little pain but not to bad[/I
One of the biggest issues was the clearance on the upper rear a arm. what i did was raise up my coilover so that the travel "down" on the suspension was less and kept it from hitting the a arm.
all in all i think it turned out great. the car used to not hook under 100MPH now it will hook from 35-40 MPH on the street! and thats with 32 psi in the tires and not heated up !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Pictures dont even do it justice. in person the rear of this car looks unbelievable!!!!!!

Nice job looks great! Did you choose the 19" wheel more for the look? The reason I ask is after all that work wouldn't a 18" wheels with a set of MT 345 drag radials be more beneficial?

Yes it would actually but you run into major issues with the upper a arm with a 18 over a 19. a 20" would actually be best but i want some side wall atleast..lol...

Why not just cut the inner section free, trim the floor back slide it over to the frame rail and reuse it. Use metal duct tape to seal the gap left from the underside to provide a firm dam then just use glass to fill in the 2in gap around the circumference from front to back Probably less expensive than using the C5 minitub parts and should provide a better fit.
A little photoshop magic.

lol thats EXACTLY what we will be doing on the next one when we laid that tub in there i was complaining how it didnt fit right. we do these mini tubs to GTOs all the time and just reuse the piece we cut out. next vette we do we will be reusing the piece. will look better fit better and be cheaper

i cut my old ones out so they wouldnt hit the tire. then i beefed up the wheel well a ton and under coated about 4 coats on the tub for strength

So this allows a full 19x13 wheel? what offset?
My current plan is the tractionmonster solution. But I always thought I would prefer a mini-tub over a wide body kit if I were to go that direction instead.

yes a 19X13. i never checked the offset. All i did was took my rim i wanted and took all my measurements off the back of it to get my clearances. i had over 3.5 inches i could add to the wheel. BUT the clearance on the A ARM was the issue. i could only add 2 " to the rim because of that issue
