Can't wait to see some hard numbers. Sounds like this package is going to be killer.

read throught the instructions...when the cradle is dropped for crank pinning spacers are installed between the cradle and frame....also in a thread that showed the unit installed on a z06 you can see the spacers...

I have installed 2 of these kits on LS3's. Neither had spacers.

I know it's a snug fit on the LS3...I have an ever so slight supercharger impression in the under hood heat shield on my LS3 car. Do you have a link to the photos you mentioned? I'd like to see these spacers.

Thanks, those shims are definitely not there on the LS2/3 kits. I know the Z06 cradle is different. This is probably for hood clearance.

As to your original question....I don't know what if any impact they would have on the car's handling etc.

?Alignment?

i haven't dropped a cradle in quite some time...but i seem to recall there are alignment pins that locate the cradle to frame..[ in addition to the mounting bolts]....i wonder if these pins still engage the frame properly.... in addition to wheel alignment...seems to me the cg is changed somewhat as well as the angle of the driveline

Good question on the locating pins. As for the car's CG...you just added about 75lbs to the top of the engine so the OEM spec CG is out the window.

From RSIMONS at Edelbrock...
***************
These spacers are only included in the LS2 & LS7 kits, and are to account for the unique plastic cowl trim on the 2007 and earlier vehicles. The spacers provide for the proper clearance from the supercharger to the plastic trim piece. They are not required on 2008 and newer vehicles.

Hrm, Manifold fits fine with out them. I just did an LS2 and didnt install them till last. The Docs with the kit didnt even have them noted. I figured it was so "edlebrock" was not imprinted on the hoodliners.

There is at least one LS2 as of late last week running around with the head unit contacting the cowl and transmitting lotsa noise into the cockpit!

Yes, that's my vette. The head unit is contacting the cow/firewall and making enough noise in the cabin that I was contemplating on un-installing the E-Force. Apparently the earlier kits, such as mine, did not have the spacers included in the kit. In talking to Edlebrock, they definitely need to be installed on LS2's to avoid this kind of situation. If you don't have this problem on an LS2, you lucked out.

It was disconcerting to say the least when I'm being told by the installer that the noise was normal but everyone else who has these units says you don't even know there is a SC under the hood until you mash it.

Thanks to Ken (Motorhead-47) and Craig (cthusker) for their insight and help to isolate the problem and to check out the clearance of the head unit from my firewall otherwise I'd be in a real quandary.
