Best tires for 600whp???
2011 C6 6MT
I put a set of Z06 "style" wheels on it before I hit 500mi so I decided to keep the stock tires. The new wheels are 18-9.5in fronts (stock tire streched a little) and 19-10in rears.
Since my ECS kit is going on soon and Im right around 7000mi now Im guessing traction will be the first thing to go, and it wont kill me to upgrade the rubber soon. Im hoping for 550-570ish whp now, and long term goal is 600-650. I do all my driving on the street, though I "might" take a trip to the track this year just for fun. Its also my DD so the tires need to be "ok" in the rain as well.
Im just wondering what you guys think would be the best choice for me. I'll really only ever get ON IT form a roll as I dont launch it on the street. I did some searching here but most tire conversations I have found are about MUCH more power than me, or more geared towards the track.
Any help on what brand/sizes would be great. Ive still got a good amount of tread on my stockers but have a feeling its going to be an ice skate at my power level soon and it will get old quick! That or ill burn them up spinning so much! Lol!!!
Thanks!!!

Since it's your DD and will see rain, you may want to avoid a DOT drag radial (like Mickey Thompson ET Streets II) but it is the only real way to hook your 600-650 eventual goal.
At 550-ish whp I'd go with the Bridgestone Potenza RE 11. I had them at about that power level and for a street tire, they did well.

In my experience less than 500 rwhp a good street tire will do ok, ps2, invos ect. When you get over 500rwhp you have to feather the throttle alot more. I am running nto5r's with 550rwhp and they hook great above 60 degrees. Under 60 they start to hook like street tires.

I have over 10K miles now on my NT-05R's. Have seen every type of weather condition that New England can throw at you (yes, including snow and rain in the cold). At 560rwhp (NA) they hooked a 2nd gear highway pull in 70+ degree weather. With over 100rwhp more now, they can not do the same - switching to 18 inch and MT's next. They do however handle decently (for a drag radial) in the rain, just don't expect to get on it in those conditions and you'll be fine. My work commute is 65 miles round trip and I do that about 2-3 times a week and they are fine, have also been on multiple 100+ mile trips with them with no worries at all.

FWIW I believe the R888, 555R and 555R2 are all the same compound. The R888 is the only one that fits the stock 19" rear wheel though.

I'm glad I found this thread! I have been debating this since I just put on my ECS supercharger. Car and tires have 10k miles and the tires where done before the install. I track my car 4-5 times a year and do several long trips with the wife a couple times a year. I wonder if I can find a decent tire to do both or if I should just find some slicks for the track days? Any suggestions?

I run a 345/30/19 Khumo Ecsta XS and they will hold 625rwhp WOT in 2nd gear when they're warm.
Fantastic street tire, but don't expect 20k miles out of them, lol.
These look like they'll give me around 12k miles.

Mickey Thompson et streets, Toyo r888, or nitto nt05r are the only tires I would consider if you want traction anything else is just gonna be a street tire that may give okay traction if it's warm but other wise won't perform like the ones I mentioned.

well i have about 600rwhp and re-11's and in the beginning they were fantastic.. I'm around 7kish on them and they spin like crazy
But it seems that just may be my luck with my set..
They are fantastic in the rain tho! I wonder how nt05's would wear .. for an every day driver in the rain/cold some times etc
