Default Eforce - should I add a cam

I have a 08 LS3 coupe with a E-Force Supercharger. Should I add a cam? Has anyone installed one that already had a supercharger?

If you haven't pullied down yet, try that first. If you have headers and have already pullied down for more boost and you feel the need for more power, then yes, add a cam. You will most likely need methanol or run E85 if you push it hard. A GM LS9 cam will probably get you 40-50rwhp and they only cost about $125. A custom cam might get you 50-75rwhp, but they are $450-$500.

Good advice and I imagine with the LS9 cam you can still use gm serviceable gm valve springs.

Aftermarket cams often require aftermarket dual valve springs and they often require 20 k mile replacement.

I had a mild cam in my c5 z06 with name brand duals and they broke at 18 thousand miles. Really pissed me off.

I sold the car.

My suggestion if you follow this gentleman s advice is if you do a cam...do the LS9 cam with gm service valve springs.

Gm makes them to go 300k miles and offers the LS9 zr1 with a 100000 mile drivetrain warranty..

That's a big portion of driver enjoyment over the years.

Yep, pulley it and headers before r&r cam, unless you really want the sound, but that should be the least reason for changing it.

Ok, decided against a cam. I pulley'ed down, went up a size on my fuel injectors and installed a set of Phadt headers. I cannot wait to pick it up tomorrow and see it on the dyno

Send a PM to member Motorhead 47. He had a 2009 LS3 with an E-Force and cam. He can give you lots of details.

Default 07 LS2 E Force,Lg Headers 599 hp 3.42 and Trans Mod

6L80 A6 Trans 3.42 RPM Gears and Phase III chunk, Lunati Blower cam and good Srings, B&M cooler on Trans, Beehive, Big Radiator, Fast Cats, BiMode from ZR!, 1800 slight stall Converter 95 inj's Z06 fuel pump, and a 21st Century Dyno Tune, Zo6 Wheels and its a Z51 Coupe. With 345/30/19's It runs 10.82 123 mph all day with the A/C and Bose running plus its 100 miles to and from the track. Officials don't like it but once.

I can't say enough about Circle C Trans in Houston or RPM gears.

You guys are right they make a heck of street car. I just need a nice vented hood

How were your gains? I have an 05 ls2 with e-force and was considering pulleying down.

Did you mean "Circle D" tranny shop in Houston? They just did a 4L80E for me and did great work.

Your 123mph should be a little higher for a high 10 sec qtr mile. Typo?

Was running 10.6 -10.8 all day with a best of 10.42 @ 134. Stock LS2, stock 6L80 and converter, eforce with 3.0 pulley, ARH headers, and 3.42 rear end. This was a daily driver in the summer and never gave me any issues. Great little blower.

Let us know the before and after results, please!

I purchased my car with this package already installed (LPE GT9 cam, which is not a big cam...LPE puts this in ZR1s as a mild upgrade over the stock ZR1 cam, from my understanding) and through an A6 trans it made 566rwhp. http://www.lingenfelter.com/engine-p...percharger-670

Adding headers gave me another 30rwhp/25rwtq... so you will definitely see some nice improvements with the headers and smaller pulley.

Wow... I'm guessing there was _zero_ traction on the street with a real street tire, given the higher stall converter and additional gearing. It obviously worked well with a sticky tire, though!

If I was to only have one mod it would be the 3.42 gears on 6L80 Z51. Then if you add the Eforce box stock no headers it makes for a very strong car. But of course now of us will quit there. I added the Wide Body and a ton more. heres a link to Utube tohear the cam

Converter was stock, but yes.... street tires pretty useless as they are on any blown corvette.
