Default E85 Fuel Pump Set Up?

Hey guys, doing some research on fuel pump set up's and figured that I would post on the Forced Induction thread as you guys seem to be the most experienced with this stuff.

I'm looking for suggestions on an in tank pump set up for a C6Z to run E85 on a N/A build putting out around 650rwhp. This is for a road race build (so a boost a pump type set up is out of the question) and the stock pump while capable with race gas is imho too close for comfort on being maxed out with E85! I was considering something along the lines of the Walboro 450lph E85 compatible in tank pump or something like that. Any thought/suggestions on what would be a simple, reasonably priced way for me to go???

It's my understanding that the ECS systems use an external secondary pump that is activated by a hobbs switch when demand exceeds the primary pumps capabilities. As this is for a N/A application I'm not sure that a set up like that would actually work for me.

In regards to the Raging Racing set up. Does a dual pump system like that simply have both pumps operating at all times or is the second pump also activated by a hobbs type switch?

Also any experience with the 450lph Walboro E85 pump that I mentioned initially?

I run the Ragin Racing fuel system. I have plenty of pressure at 600hp 7lbs of boost.

The dual pump systems can do whatever you want. Run both all the time, or have one on a WOT switch, or vacuum switch. For what you want single 450 would probably be fine.

Hmm.. I was curious about the Walbro 450, so you guys are pretty confident that a single Walbro 450 will handle the fuel demands for roughly 650hp N/A on E85 which I believe coverts to roughly 850hp on gasoline?

Also is the 450 a direct drop in or is there some modification needed to make it work?

It takes a little modification. Nothing too difficult. Do a quick search on here and I'm sure you will find the info and pics.

I'm second guessing whether a single 450 will work for you. High strung NA motors usually have a higher BSFC than a normal NA motor.

Thanks! Before I put up the thread I was researching the 450 E85 pump and ran across some threads detailing the issues that you ran into with pumps etc getting your fuel system sorted I'm guessing that the 450 got you sorted also!

As an update to everyone I put an order in for the 450lph pump last week and have the Racetronics plug and play fuel pump wiring harness coming which for those that do not know uses heavier gauge wiring and basically provides current to the pump directly from the alternator so that it has maximum voltage available all the time. Everything should be installed next week and on the dyno for tuning around the end of the week.

This is a little bit of an unusual build as being NA and a track car the fuel system will be running near max capacity for 20-30 minutes track sessions unlike FI systems where your are I believe most often at WOT for 20-30 seconds and a boost a pump or something like that will suffice. I'll update the thread with the injector sizes that we ended up using and the results that we see on the dyno of the fuel system upgrades in case anyone is interested or if someone is searching the forum for this info down the road. Thanks again to everyone that had input
