Another winter mods thread
So following real's footsteps. Thought I would post my own winter mod thread. Will start the tear down tomorrow and post some pics.
06 Z51 w/ Dallas performance stage 4 which is D1SC, big mouth, their cam, long tube 1 7/8 headers catless, 60lb injectors and 8 inch IW crank pulley, Kenny bell BAP
My plans:
Installing flip drive with cartek SC bracket, pulley. Order both Friday. Flip drive should be here this week but bracket is 2-4 weeks. I'll have flip drive installed while I wait.
3.90 SC pulley
C5 AC bracket, idler, tensioner
Alky meth kit. Ordering single nozzle with upgrade option to switch to dual
LS3 heads. Ported polished by AES. Ti retainers, stainless valves, dual 660 springs, Yella terra platinum rockers. LSA head gaskets
GM LS3 intake. Stock
Morel lifters
80lb injectors
PC big red BOV
ARP head studs
Couple other items I'll be installing while tore down.
Double D's pillar pod with dual areoforce gauges
Catch can
Kurt Urban steam vent system
Dual spal fans
Tech alternator
Elite pedals
Yes this will be on a stock bottom end. Will run it that way until the rod bolts give at which time I already have a short block ready to go. I think I can stretch it through the summer.
Have a few months to get this done

Nice. I like following build threads. At least you have a decent amount to do.
I am not sure how those moths are going to help.... do they turn wrenches?

Ha, gave that a fix. BTW, aside from this build, the only other thing I am looking forward to is Team USA getting the gold in men's hockey, but being that Team Canada has some of my Hawks, they hopefully get silver.

On a side note we should be ok but Canada is no joke and Sweden (aka team Red Wings, proud Detroiter here) is no pushover but losing Zetterberg was a big blow. I still wouldn't count out Russia I mean they have the magic man and have he energy of the home land.

Think USA has easiest game to advance to semis. Russia will have their hands full with Finland and same with Canada and Switzerland.
Think while I'm there I should upgrade to the katech timing chain so add that too list

Got it all tore apart today. Pulled radiator out, complete front drive, complete SC unit, heads, intake, valley cover, etc. will post pics tomorrow. Only took about 4.5 hours
And realized that the rack needs to come off in order to pull crank pulley. Only reason I was going to pull it was to change the timing chain (and maybe oil pump) but now thinking not going to go through all that.
Can someone tell me how big of a job is it to remove the rack. Thanks

It's a pain but not that big a deal. Once disconnected it slides out the passenger side. I would do it once you're doing all that work.

Have you seen the new vapor bleeder system from Nitrous Outlet? I like Kurt Urban's idea, but not the fitment.

So was doing a search on removing the rack and ran into this. So based on the pic of the measured crank pulley, this is the one I have. Based on comments, people are saying spacing the rack, different water pump, etc. but then it stops. So am I going to run into any issues when installing the flip drive? Anything else? Guess I'll be calling cartek tomorrow. When I ordered I told them I was running an 8 inch crank pulley and they said it will fit but tight. This is almost a half inch bigger.....or does the 8 inches refer to the inside rib dimension?

D1SC with a 3.90" pulley on the blower and a 8" on the crank. You should get the dual nozzle alky control kit.

I ordered the dual
You guys think there is any benefit to a different TB? I have access to a ported 90 NW, was going to use it on something else but if it would be good for this build I'll throw it on.

Guys think I will benefit from a ported 90 TB? Or port my stock one or just leave alone? Not even sure what size the stock TB is?

Leave it alone or do a light port yourself. Stock should be 92mm.

Also thinking about switching to a SD tune as I think I may be close to maxing the stock MAF. or should I just install something like the LPE 100 mm MAF? Even that will require a change in the fuel tables though

Swap to a card style maf.
