I think Jon has the highest $ per mod ratio, which makes him really rich.

Pfff. I work overtime to pay for my mod habit.

People with way more money tied up in their car than what I have into mine.

Well, getting the T-trim would add another 2-3 weeks as they don't have any in stock. I don't feel like waiting and since it won't really affect my initial HP goals, I'm going to stick with the Si. Given that my initial plans only call for possible upgrades to 700RWHP, I'm not too worried about the Si vs Ti. If I ever decide I need more than 700RWHP, I'll probably just go big and do a YSi with 8 rib setup.

Anyway, looking forward to having the car back, should be done later this week.

Telling you now that is a mistake. 2-3 weeks is nothing.

Hell I got a Ti trim on the shelf here, black.

Why exactly is this a mistake? I understand that many people are recommending the T or YSi as it's a little less to do it up front than upgrade down the road, but given the goals that I outlined at the start, why would the Si not work well. As I stated before, I'm not even sure I'll ever want more than 600-700RWHP, as anything beyond that is going to be hard to use in a street car and could lead to needing other (drivetrain) upgrades.

If the only reason is up front cost saving, then let's move past it and wait to see what the HP numbers are.
If however, there is an actual issue with the Si, please let me know.

It isn't "a little" later on, it is a ton. Think $1500+ compared to $200-300 now. Also running a blower at max just limits its life. 700rwhp is spinning the Si-hard and Si don't have the HD bearings like the other units. Plus you will get it back easily in resale. It is MUCH harder to sell an Si-kit than a T/Ti kit. I fell for the Si-trim trap before. Said the same thing you did. Spent 3 months trying to sell my Si-trim so I could buy a bigger blower but no one wants them. Finally sold the whole kit for ~$3500 and bought a brand new kit with the bigger blower because that was the most cost effective way to do it. Landed moving from A&A to ECS and never looked back. I like the ECS design MUCH more.

In the end, waiting 2-3 weeks is nothing compared to the life of the car. I'm sure you can find plenty of vendors too with Ti trims on the shelf.

If you want my opinion I would just order an ECS kit with the Paxton 1500 and call it a day.

All the new Paxton 1500's come with the Ti wheel in them right?

I personally think you'll be just fine with the Si-trim. I went with the T-trim when I bought my A&A system, but I already had a cam and was planning to install meth along with the blower.

I'm not sure what A&A charges to upgrade to a bigger blower these days, but they used to offer a pretty decent trade-in deal.

A lot of guys recommend just going for the biggest blower right out of the gate, but I don't think that's the right option either. Without a small pulley and restrictor plate (ECS style) , I think you'll lose some lower end power. A Ti-trim (or SL1500) with a 3.25" pulley is going to be more torquey than one with a 3.8" pulley.

I'd call A&A and ask for their opinion.

Called A&A today, and there advise was go with the Si based on my goals. You are correct in that they offer a pretty good trade in program, which will help if I ever do decide to upgrade.

A&A always recommends the Si trim. Then when I called to get a trade in upgrade price is was something like $1200. Rather have paid the $300 up front like I wanted too, but they talked me out of it.

Do whatever you want, but I've been there, done that along with a ton of others.

Just get a ECS kit and leave your worries behind.

This really isn't helpful advice. As I stated earlier, the car is already at the shop and the A&A kit was already ordered. For all the positive posts that I've seen in this forum about A&A, it seems like everyone posting here is pretty down on them. How about no more "order ECS" or "get the T-trim" advice. I'll post the dyno graph once the install is done, and then we can discuss the reults.

There won't be anything to discuss since we've all seen what that blower and can't do. Not trying to be negative. We were trying to help but in the end you will do what you want.

My car went 9.75 and went 9's in 7 out of 10 runs with an Si-trim/ meth set up....and this was through a 6L80.
How many times have you run 9s?

Why did you put a smallest blower into a giant 427 LS7?

Since you're tuner, you should have known, right?

I bet you have seen many combinations week after week... ;-)

That! So many either grenade their engines or just want more power and spend, well, a lot..

But what if you don't? Like the OP?

He already has an A&A kit, if I understood right.

(I personally have T-trim, btw.)

Why? Because I did what A&A said. They also said no problem and it is a cheap upgrade later. I was expecting $400-500 to swap later, basically they told me I would get ~$800 trade in credit for my Si, and then pay $2500 or whatever it was for a T-trim. To me that wasn't a cheap upgrade later.

I really pushed to get a T-trim right away, but they kept saying no, keep the Si, it will be better. Well 3 pulls on the dyno and I was ready to swap it out because it was maxed out.

Unfortunately not. I have been 10.20's picking my own gears on a bum LS9R clutch at the time and 19" NT05Rs. Besides that I don't live my life a quarter mile at a time I like to go fast
