the stock car harness will support the pump. the racetronix harness is unnecessary

no need to upgrade the wiring inside the bucket.

no need to install an aftermarket regulator or add a return line

get the 200mm tube bc the 150mm is to short or get a submersible fuel hose- comes precut to 12 inches

the stock bucket needs to be modified

drop the tank. pull the stock pump assembly out. remove stock pump. install the 450 pump which involves bucket modifications. install pump assembly back in tank. install tank back in car.

is this all correct so far.??
if you can post some pics of your install.caused i would like to do the same thing.thanks

I did not modify my bucket at all. Most i had to do was connect the wires and replace the small fuel line inside.

you must of added some holes..? have any pics.?

im still working on mine but this is what i have so far..the red circle shows the stops i shortened. they allow the inner plastic piece to be lowered. the corrugated hose i got from racetronix is a bitch to get on. i ruined the 1st one. i have another on order as well as a submersible hose. i can post more pics when i get more parts

What do I do with the small line coming off the side of the bucket in this pic (the attachment)? The new 450 pump doesnt have a spot to plug that into.

Isnt that hose for the venturi? I was reading that the venturi helps fuel get to the other tank. How will that work now that Ive cut it off?

One more question. Does the 450 have a built in check valve?

I believe the small line is a bypass line that is used to keep the bucket full. 450 does not have an internal check valve AFAIK. I had to add one to keep my pressure up after shutoff so the car starts easier.

I've been doing a lot of reading on this and would like to clarify/confirm my understanding in two areas:

1. Modifying the bucket. It looks like since you guys put (fairly large) holes in the bucket and talk about cutting the line shown below (orange arrow), that the drivers side venturi pump will now be disabled. Is it really impossible to mount the pump inside the bucket such that this system is kept intact? I've also read that the walbro 450 pump itself has no connection for this line, but from the diagram below it looks to be part of the fuel lines, not the pump.

2. Adding a return line. I'll be doing this to maintain control over the fuel pressure. This means I have to put the caps on BOTH regulators right? One in each tank. Also, when you run the new line, how do you plumb the return back into the tank? Put a new hole and fitting in the top of the gas tank?

Thanks for your help on this guys. Lots of excellent info here.

The 450 pump doesn't include the tiny line that draws fuel into the bucket, therefore it's necessary to cut the bucket open to expose the pump inlet to a good fuel source. The pump inlet is mounted so low that sloshing shouldn't be a huge concern, but it will be different than when the pump pulled fuel from the pre-filled bucket.

The plug is needed on the driver side. You're replacing the internal regulator with a block off because you're adding an external regulator in its place.

The regulator on the passenger side simply controls when the siphon works. It's set to transfer fuel between tanks at ~54psi. If you need to run your externally regulated fuel base pressure below 54psi you need a bypass (not block off) that will allow fuel transfer below 54psi

Unitink72 how do you "plug" the stock regulator? I'm encountering elevated fuel pressure, and Id like to mod the stock bucket to plumb a return

Thanks for the link to the plug. I have one ordered now.

Ive been searching, but I cant find anything about an ECS sump. Do you have a link for that too?
