Default Quick help with Mantic 9000 install

I've searched but am not finding a definitive answer, twin disc installed pad to pad or staggered?

Thanks

Zero balanced, doesn't matter.

Thanks Doug, I read a thread or two stating folks had some chatter that went away when they put the discs pad to pad.

I also read where they claimed it went away after staggering.

I'll find out in about 3 weeks.

My installer first installed the clutch discs with clutch padlets one over another and there was major vibration (with audible noise) in the drivetrain. They dropped the drivetrain again and installed the discs staggered and the major vibration in the drivetrain is gone. Depending on throttle input, still get chatter at takeoff.

I keep hearing conflicting stories. Oh well, installed it pad to pad and will see what happens.

Well that's what you were told anyway..

(my bet, there was a disc installed backwards)

Gonna have to agree with Doug. Had this clutch in and out 3 times for unrelated issues and have installed the clutch with both pad to pad and staggered with no difference in clutch feel or clutch noise. Its a twin disc clutch, its gonna be a little noisy, its gonna rattle a bit at idle.. Just the nature of the beast. The stock clutch disks in these things rattle..

No idea how I put it in, but it drives great, no issues. Best clutch I've used in a vette.

Can you make it stutter or have issues? Yes. Is it beyond easy to drive around those issues, yep.

Is there a performance gain pad to pad versus staggered? Does one way versus the other increase or decrease torque capacity?

Doug could you contact Mantic on our behalf for the final answer on this? Mine will be going in next weekend.

I talked to the Mantic guys at SEMA last year after just installing one, I was told first hand that it did not matter... No difference in operation, no difference in holding capacity. Just install with the discs facing the correct direction and it operates just fine

Negative. We will have three cars on display this year so I should really go, but it's during my daughters birthday. Family first.. Normally I go anyway, but Carlisle is during my wedding anniversary, SEMA is during mine and my oldest daughters birthday, and PRI is during my wife's and younger daughters birthdays. You just can't make that stuff up. I miss all the important family dates so I stagger each year what I'm going to miss.

Chris and Alex will be there.

Those are some BIG shoes to fill...

You left out part of the equation though, help two people, mess with one. Keeps me entertained.

I know it really shouldn't matter but which way did you install it?

That's what my shop said as well, they said they probably fixed something else while they were back in there.

Pad to Pad, and I must say this clutch is AWESOME!!! Little bit of chatter if I don't give it enough throttle in 1st gear but peddle feel and engagement is perfect. A side benefit that most people don't discuss is the improved low RPM response due to the mass reduction. The stock clutch & flywheel are a beast as far as weight is concerned. Thanks to ECS for talking me into it.

But my only question is, what the hell is up with that case it comes in?? They should include a chain and cuff with it as well, LOL.
