Default Anybody wanting to run a 10 rib blower belt needs this water pump info

During my swap from 8 to 10 rib I kept hearing conflicting information about if the oem water pump would work. I came up with a theory that pre-2009 water pumps used a wider pulley along with the different port location. To test this out I bought a 2008 Z06 water pump, and sure enough it was wide enough for the 10 rib.

That is good to know.

For my 10 rib setup, I am using a LS1 water pump, P/N 19256263.

I just went through this with my 10 rib F1R build. My 09' Z water pump pulley was too narrow so I ended up going with a LS6 pump.

You blower guys may want to check this out. I just got it, just because its a cheap high flow pump but the pulley on it is quite wide. Seems to be for an F-Body but it seems to take the new style thermostat and housing fine although the dimensions are a little different. I guess it's similar to the LS1/6 pumps mentioned above. Seems hard to beat for $82. Haven't run it yet though.

Careful with that pump and high tension belts.

We have seen MANY of the pulleys come off.
(Some guys weld them on, to solve the issue)

I welded even the stock one. Why take that chance.

Where's everyone getting their water pumps from. The Chevy dealership or is a auto zone brand good enough? Also was the 2008 z06 the best one to get or is the ls6 the best? This will be going on a 2013 grand sport.

I got mine from Gene Culley at Cultrag GM parts. It's a 2004 LS6 pump. I had the pulley tig welded on as my stock pulley backed off about 1/4" and the rear edge started cutting belts.

Did the exact same thing - 10 rib with 8" lower, 3.8" upper pumping 32psi with no issues

Which one would be a better choice. 2008 z06 or the LS6 water pump for a 13 grand sport? Found a duralast ls6 for $127 at auto zone. 08 z06 water pump is 3 week back order.
