295/45/17 DRs?...ECS LS3 A6 with 2.56s
So i pulled the trigger on the ECS 1500 kit with the alky injection kit and their small blower cam. It should ship out this week hopefully. I already have a ported tb and 1 7/8" headers. I will still be using the stock tranny and converter as well as the stock rear with 2.56 gears. I have some 295/45/17 MT that are practically new from my fbody. Any thoughts on running them at the track? I know they are pretty heavy and will affect gear ratio, but has anybody actually run this tire on a very similar setup?

Subscribed. I have similar combo sans cam. Have a drag pack with 275/40s on it and 26" front runners. Curious to see answers.

Oh, they're going to hook. You may want to do a converter sooner rather than later though. I ran them behind an M6 Maggie rig. They would hook even with crappy track prep. Can you say test-n-tune night when most of what's there are pickups and other random slow rigs that ALWAYS drag a little water to the starting line.
Hell, you got 'em. Bolt them up and see how you like 'em

I might as well lol...I'll be looking into a Bogart/CCW drag setup to lighten it up a bit. I'm sure they'll do good on the street though, but hoping it doesnt kill my low end as much. Looks like I'll be giving Circle D a call pretty soon! lol

I'm a fan. No traction problems with my 660rwhp procharged car. Theres plenty faster cars but I always hook pretty well even when others struggle.
I went with a 3k stall converter and it was not worth the $$ spent for me.

Thanks for the input. Good to know you're A6 as well. That's why I went with their small blower cam...I was unsure about getting a converter. What was it that you did not like?

Converter just wasnt a great bang for the buck mod. I was consistently running around 1.60 60' with the stocker and 550rwhp. Now with the stall and 660rwhp I see 1.45-1.5. Not much gain for the price I paid for the converter and then install. I only got a 3000 stall. Maybe I went too small.
With or without a stall you should be easy mid 10s. 9s if you pull the restrictor and do their stage 1 fuel system.

Funny that you mention the stall size cause that's what I had in mind. I don't want to overdo it either. I'm aiming for similar rwhp numbers, but the price also keeps me from wanting to put one in there. I'll run it with the stocker and see how the car responds with those tires.

Well...here's how smart I am. Put brand new 295/45 17's on those "lovely" FBody rims. Then decided to upgrade to a new Grand Sport. They won't fit over the GS brakes. Dammit! Still have your originals too. So, I have brand new Mickey T's on your old rims. Never made a pass...Need to open a tire shop
