McLeod RXT/RST Twin vs Mantic 9000 twin vs Monster Level 1 twin
#81
How is everyone's Mantic 9k holding up these days? I'm leaning towards it over the RXT, but I'm also considering the SPEC Billet twin mini, and Monster Twin. Looking for lightweight, good pedal modulation, and quality.

Working great as always.

my mcleod RXT burned up in 850whp it did not like that one bit, basically it fried itself almost instantly at that power level. it seems the RXT clutchs are finiky on install too and some need shims sometimes. i was not happy with my RXT and dont' recommend it, mine for some reason always had a touch of chatter i didn't like too.
mantic makes amazing clutches though, i decided on the mantic triple so i never have to worry again but there are lots of guys reliably putting down 1kwhp on mantic twin.
my mantic triple takes a little finesse to drive but the clutch is incredible for something that can hold >1,500hp. car shifts way better than the RXT too, only downside is when clutch is depressed quite a bit more clutch rattle than i expected but I think this is from the center disc in the triple plate setup and i was told to expect that by both ECS and mantic. mantic all the way for me though

Monster Billet twin or Mantic 9k?

I got my mantic in for a month now, it drives virtually like stock so far, chatter is not the actually clutch, its coming from the tranny. Because of the different flywheel weight. Quick fix is to up idle by 150RPM and it goes away. Unfortunately thet goes for every twin/triple plates clutches. I can tell you that th shifting its outta this world! I never had a vette that shift so well!

i was told that with a triple plate clutch the center clutch can rattle at idle with clutch in, like a ducati kind of idle sound. it's not that big of a deal to me and I don't think you'll experience that with a twin disc.
i drive my car on the street all the time. mantic triple is no problem at all for street driving and the twin should be even more streetable. I would think the mantic twin would be just as easy as stock.
i have two other cars for daily driving duty though so i only take the vette out when weather is perfect and i feel like driving it so it's not like it is the daily driver or i every drive it to work or something. I don't have any vids but if you are coming from a stock clutch I think the car would feel noticeably better and "rev'ier"with the lighter setup. i have no feedback on the monster setups. Schnexel seems to like his.

I've been happy with my Monster LT1-S but keep in mind I'm not exactly doing hard launches from a stop or anything. Pedal feel is like stock. I'd do the -SC if I were doing it over again, but I'm sure as hell not pulling the drivetrain back out as long as whatever I have is working, lol
It does rattle a bit more now that I have a cam. The friction disc is unsprung so that's part of why (typically used with dual mass flywheel like on the C7).
The -SC I think uses a sprung friction disc so it's probably a little bit quieter and is cerametallic so should hold up to heat better
I would not use one of the "old" style Monster clutches.. I'd do one of the LT1 based ones if you're considering them. Their triple does (or did anyways) rattle quite a bit. They've added some springs to help stop that.. I have not tested one though.

I have talked to someone who has installed quite a few Mantic's. Basically I was told some rattle more than others and he wasn't sure why.
I did notice when I uninstalled mine that some part of the clutch had been barely grazing the heads of the ARP flywheel bolts. The heads on the stock bolt are not as tall, so I've always wondered if that was the reason some peoples rattled and some didn't (i.e. using ARP vs. stock flywheel bolts)

i believe you, just confused. i will say that my triple plate mantic transformed completely after break in though. i was scared right after installing as it would not fully disengage making reverse literally impossible and first was not easy, with 500 miles on it now though it is like butter

Not saying some don't rattle, but mine is super quiet. Zero issues, same with every other mantic I've seen in person.

yeah, don't judge it until you have at least 400 miles on it. the shop that i had install my clutch does probably dozens of vette clutches per month and even they were like "we can't figure out why it won't disengage" etc after bleeding it 10x and freaking out, but now the clutch is a different animal after some miles
