Prepping for 1/2 mile race, December 13th
So registered for 1/2 mile race here December 13th. Prepping the car this weekend and next since I'll but in Ireland/Germany from Thanksgiving until a few days before the race.
Parts ordered
N2O Outlet Steam Vent kit
TR8IX plugs
GMPP ls7 wire set
Airaid Race day air filter
Good tire pressure gauge
Already swapped plugs to the 8ix gapped at .035. Seems good but haven't done any full 4th gear pulls. That was out of the box gap so was going to try them there instead of the .028 I had the 7ix at. Working on the tune right now. Was running out of fuel 6k+, out of pump. Had base pressure at 58psi like OEM, with rising rate so it was pushing 78psi at max boost. Fuel pumps just don't flow much at 78psi so I dropped the pressure ~10psi to 48psi base. That should get me enough pump to not drop off up top like it was. Calculating a ~10%psi drop in FP I added 10% to maf tables, and it seems to be in the ball park. From what I can tell from my 2nd gear punches spinning all over, AFR is ~11:1. Trying to target 10.7-10.9.
Won an AEM failsafe wideband at dyno day, so may try to put that in this weekend. Going to get car up in the air, wheels off and retorque everything. Going to try to hit the dyno once the new air filter and base tuning is done. Ordered the wires because I have 3 taylors, 3 autozone and 2 factory wires on it now. They work, but just wanting to clean it up.
So any other tips/tricks/ideas for prepping for the 1/2 mile?
7ix plugs I had all looked perfect when I pulled them out. No signs of detonation. Had ~5k miles of 1000+rwhp on them.

I've personally never done anything special when going out to the half mile events I run at. I just make sure my meth tank is topped off and bring an electric pump to air my tires back up if I need to air them down at all. If your car is well sorted out, you should be just fine.
Oh, and don't forget to strap a GoPro onto your car.

Got my Sony action cam ready to rock.
Just trying to make sure car is in tip top shape before running it for 1/2 mile. Obviously will check all the fluids and top them off. Will bring plenty of meth. Plan on using MS109 for the event because $50-100 on gas is cheap insurance on a $15k motor.

~180mph. Tires have ~100-150 miles on them (my race setup, they are basically brand new besides test drive/fitment).
Fuel pumps are fine, no issues, just didn't like 75-80psi with the new added power. All good now. Blower belt has ~400 miles on it and I have a stack of spares. I'll bring spare plugs, belts, etc.

Looks like you are ready to go...
I agree with the above comment regarding the MS109 though, you will need to retune. Car will run leaner. Put it in the tank and do a 4th gear pull with someone watching the datalog.. My buddy runs around at 12.0 afr on 93/meth and the car loves it, so it may not lean out enough to be problematic.

Car is almost dialed in at 10.7-10.8 on 91 meth. If it leans out to mid 11s on 109 I doubt that will cause an issue. I could run c16 or some other high octane, just not doing 91/meth for 1/2 mile runs. If anything it would probably be half 91 half ms109.
So far plugs at .035 seems good, no misses, runs good. New wires fit great and look decent. Just ac delco factory wires. They are so much nicer than any of the others I have had.
Waiting on the airaid filter. Should have just driven there and got it. They are only 20 minutes away.

Yah, 180mph is scary enough, I don't want to do 200+ in a vette. 1/2 mile is a perfect amount, and really I may not even do the full 1/2 mile, it is just a 1/2 mile of runway to race whoever I'm lining up with. I'm more interested in just a legal way of racing. Should be fun. Already got some twin 67mm z06 calling me out and I have no idea who it is.

Regapped plugs to .28-.30 and adjust fuel pressure. Drank a lot of beer, ate a lot of pizza. Good night. Got all the new wires on. No sign of air filter. Waiting on that and then back to tooning.

Plus this event is mostly a rolling start, so starting from 40 who knows, I was estimating 180.
C6Z brakes should be more than enough. I got good pads all around.

Ordered a zr1 sway bar for the rear. Should help plant the power.
Tuning it today on the way to work. Dropping the fuel pressure really leaned it out, as expected.

Our event is usually a 50 mph roll, and a little under a half mile from cone to cone. I ran ~165 with a little over 700 rwhp in my old LS3 car. Car was rock solid at that speed, but yours should be quite a bit quicker in similar conditions.

not sure if its because I been riding liter bikes for a while but ive done 180+ in all my C6 vettes 2 of which were intake and exhaust only Zs but I never really had a problem with those speeds, hell I got video of my SRT8 Grand Cherokee doing 140+. definitely want to do a 1/2 mile or full mile event though.

Working on it last night. Running my mustang tonight at the drag strip so had to get that ready too.
