Default supercharged 650hp car tire suggestions

Hey all looks like that time again. I'm looking for some new tires... Right now my "winter" tires are re-11's and the summer ones are MT drag radials

Seems about time that both are going to be replaced.... any suggestions?

I hit the track maybe once or twice a year.. i really would like to do some HPDE events this next year ... and the car is my daily driver when its nice weather out.

I'm looking for something that can really stick from a dig .. .and something that might even have some handling

The re-11's are great in the rain but i can spin them at 70 if i want.. and the MTs are great in a straight line but give up some handling on them as well as they kick in the ABS under hard braking

Thoughts?

Car is a narrow body stock sized rims.

I like my Toyo r888's on the road course, and they do a pretty good job of putting down 750rwhp.

I'm interested on a tire like the OP mentioned too. After the ECS kit install I realized that traction is unavailable up until 4th gear.

I think I tried almost every street tire out there, and none of them can really hook 700+. I'm waiting on a set of pilot sport cup tires, but they are an R comp too. I think r comps last just as long as street tires because they don't spin as bad. I consider anything approaching 5,000 miles a success. Also think about the money invested to have that power level, and if you don't use a really good tire, then what's the point of having all that power.

They do work better with some heat, but they will get that heat just normal driving. I think they still work better cold than any pure street tire I've used. If your at 650rwhp you might be able to get by with a really nice street tire, but 1-2 is still going to spin if you put it to the floor. Throttle control can help tremendously, but I know its hard to keep from planting your right foot in the heat of the moment.

Still stickier than a non-R until warm.

Toyo tq or nitto drags are going to be more of a in between tire from street tires to serious drag radials. They will still handle well and last a little longer. Toyo ra1 are nice if you can get them in the size you need.

Thanks

For a well mannered street tire with excellent handling, I haven't found anything better than an RE-11. I don't see you finding anything that performs better without other major tradeoffs. What I like about them (other than the good traction) is that they're quiet and last quite a while. Price is also reasonable. I ran them on a narrow body car with stock wheels in a 305/30/19 size. I thought they held their own on a car making over 700 RWHP.

I also like the Pilot Super Sport, but it's probably less sticky than the RE-11. I run them on my DD and couldn't ask for anything better, but we're talking about a car that only makes ~480 RWTQ.

Something like the NT05R is probably the best bet for a streetable drag radial. They don't come in too many sizes, though.

Over the years, I've just learned to live with questionable traction through the first couple gears on the street. Even the few times that I ran my 275/40/17 Hoosier drag radials on the street, they wouldn't hold 1st gear. They didn't stick much better than my 305 RE-11s for regular use IMO (i.e. no burnout)

probably the best tire I have personally used as far as traction is concerned, they do really well on the street (I run mine at 28psi cold) and they don't handle near as bad as I thought they would, but I wouldn't push it real hard in corners... I have also used r888's and they handle really well and do ok with bigger power but not as good as the nt05r's in my personal experience... nt05r's win for traction and r888's for handling, pick your poison... another tire I looked at but haven't used yet is the mickey thompson et street 2... I think those will do better than the nittos for traction but will suffer more in the handling dept... personally I wouldn't even consider using a street tire with that kind of power, the only thing going on mine is a drag radial... I don't drive it very often and when I do I want to be able to use the power so if I can get 2 years out of a pair I'll be more than happy

What is this RE-11 tire? Brand? I have my drag tire but that's for thr track only. I want something that provides better traction than the oem run flats but can also perform in all weather conditions and last some too.

I run my re-11s now and I have mixed feelings.... they were great when I first got them ... but after a few thousand miles the traction seemed to go away.... maybe it's just the set I got because everyone else loves them......

Also i got the rears in 305 and they throw my traction control sometimes (so normally i just drive with it off)
