This one wouldn't have been bad if it would have stopped going purple on me. Not sure what that was all about.
Yep, still stock 05 diff. I don't do hard launches, usually don't get on it hard until 2nd, sometimes 3rd

The tailhousing to use a 06+ is what makes it expensive.

Not a lot of updates.. was bored yesterday and got a new compressor so figured I'd check for boost leaks. Turned out to be a waste of time.. no leaks @ 15 psi.
Homemade block off:
Plugged into brake booster hose. Worked great.
Have been getting a lot of belt dust lately, so I think I'm getting some belt slip. I'm not so sure these gatorback belts are all that great. They feel hard as hell--the more I read about them the more it sounds like they were made to be quiet, not necessarily to grip all that well. I'm switching back to a cheapo/softer belt. Seems quite grippy just messing with it. Was raining today so didn't get around to installing it. Maybe tomorrow if I feel like having a bad day.

LOL! Man, I can tell you're bored. Sounds like you were hoping to find a leak, just so you could tear into that car again!
I'm real keen to find out how that Bando belt works. I didn't have a good experience with the Gatorback belts either. Same thing as you: a sh!tload of black dust, and the "smooth" side of the belt looked rough, like you could see the impression of the cords in the belt.
These were the new Continental Elite series belts, because, of course, Goodyear doesn't make them anymore. Not sure if they're different from the original GY version.
Would be cool if we could get M/T, M&H, etc. to make us some stickier belts that work as good as their tires, even if we had to change them more often - it would probably still be cheaper and easier than buying a flip drive or 8- or 10-rib setup.

Yeah. I was bored.. extra day off work and all
This thing feels like glue on the smooth side, lol. We'll see.. now I just have to get bored enough to want to go through the PITA of putting this thing on.
I saw some posts a while back from either Gates or Continental saying they'd make custom sizes in heavy duty, etc. if we wanted. Not sure they're any stickier though.

Yep, the cheaper belts are stickier and work better, just don't last as long. People are all crazy over green belts, yet they don't perform as well as a normal belt, just last longer.

No major updates--just put on cheapo Bando belt today. Had a bunch of belt dust with gatorback so figured I'd try a cheapo sticky one.
Pretty much sure now they come longer than gatorback belts do.
891 gatorback I had to take both alternator bolts out and still could barely get the belt on. Took a pry bar to get the alternator back in place to get bolts on (had someone else holding tensioner all the way open).
891 Bando went right on.. alternator in place, no issues at all. Just like ECS video pretty much. No way those two are the same length.
Then got some dirt. I still get crazy looks throwing dirt in the back of a Corvette but whatever.

I almost always use the vette to goto homedepot for water softner salt. The hatch makes it the best car to haul 300lbs of salt.

Yep. Hard to beat the flat hatch area. I use it for dog food and dirt all the time when I need to get some. SUV I have is light colored interior so that pretty much sucks for putting dirt in

I can only hope it would ruin their day when they drilled into that one!

I must have too much traction now
Got on it hard in 1/2/3 earlier. HUD is broke now, set as high as it will go it's still too low for me to see (too low on windshield, not brightness issue). Looks like fairly common issue
Guess that's my weekend project

I just did the cut the shroud method with the pvc string cutter. It was a really clean cut.

I took it out one time a long time ago because the clear plastic cover was so dirty you could see it on the windshield, so I already cut the duct--hopefully it comes apart easier this time
I wish I had known about a string cutter back then.. I ended up just using a razor I think

Just let me send you that ticket and you can come down here and install all the parts that I haven't gotten around to yet!
BTW: the garage has A/C, so you can work in 76 degree comfort...
