Totally missed your post yesterday...

Yup.. never ends, lol. I really think it's best to at least do valve springs/trunnion though given the mileage on my stock ones. Cam is still debatable..

Thought about doing the cam while the radiator is out but don't really want to spend anymore money right now. Maybe in a few weeks.

Got radiator swapped this morning. Pretty sure I had a bail of hay in this radiator. Check out the pics.

New pressure sensor w/Schrader valve dimple built in. It would be perfect for connecting to the fuel pressure port on the fuel rail, but I have some other ideas to try first

Dimple... I think you can leave the valve in the fuel rail connector if you use this type of pressure sensor

Just a little bit of grass in this thing. Jesus. The radiator install went OK, no major issues.

Got everything but the npp hoses done. Valve springs were a bastard but finally got them all. I do not recommend the ls1tech tool for valve springs. Pics later. Then beer. Possibly not in that order.

Can you PM me where you got the Honeywell pressure switch? I've been looking for a simple solution for attaching a fuel pressure sensor to the Schrader valve, and that looks perfect.

It really is the best solution for a fuel pressure sensor that I've seen. I got it from Mouser. I'll post the part numbers, etc. when I get home. The one I got was for 0-150psi. I'd try to find a 0-100 psi one for fuel pressure.

Curious why you don't recommend the ls1tech tool. Been using one for years.

Got it all from Mouser

Sensor:

Connector:

Pins:

I haven't assembled mine yet but I'm pretty sure those are the right pins.

Too much of a pain to keep it lined up just right as I was tightening it down. Especially painful when installing the keepers and releasing pressure on the spring because it will push the keepers out of the way if it isn't lined up just right. And only doing one valve spring at a time takes forever.

The other tools might not be any better though, I've never used them... but I have a feeling they work a bit better. They cost 2-3x as much though

It DID do the job.. so I can't complain too terribly much

There you go again with those OJ gloves!
Dude, all I can say is, you are truly a wrench addict! I bet you sleep with a set of combination wrenches under yer pillow!
Reminds me of a fellow I once was, back in my younger days...
I take it you're using the TDC method to change the springs, since I don't see any air hose going to the spark plug hole?
I can only imagine that single spring tool could be a PITA with twisting around when you're tightening it down.
BTW: were you using that Vette as a mower?? I haven't seen that much grass in one spot since my days as a drug prosecutor!!
Glad to see you're enjoying your project though. You'd get my vote for the Wrencher of the Year award fir sure!
Keep on wrenchin!

lol, I had to take the gloves off today it got so hot! And trying to get those valve keepers in the right place with them on wasn't happening.

Yep, used the TDC method. I basically just stuck a 1/4" extension down the spark plug hole and spun the crank a few degrees, checked, turned again, repeat until I got close enough to TDC. I didn't trust the air compressor method enough to try it

Yeah.. you're exactly right, the spring tool would try to rotate and as it went down it didn't stay quite on the same plane as the valves, so you'd constantly have to move the springs around to keep everything lined up. Not a huge deal but def. had a learning curve

That radiator was nasty.... as you can imagine, my coolant temps dropped a little bit with the new one. Didn't know you were a prosecutor though! I bet you have some crazy stories from those days.

I think this will be about it for a while though.. I need to connect the NPP exhaust and at some point change brakes/shocks, but that's about it. Until I do a cam that is

I've never had issues with the spring tool rotating but I've also never used the tdc method either. Maybe the valve trying to move has something to do with it. With 100 psi mine stay put. Glad to see you got it done though.

well I think it was brought up in this thread at some point (if not it was elsewhere) about whether or not the DashLogic would show a low windshield wiper fluid warning for those running meth. The short answer is yes.

Someone else's car had the "check washer fluid" warning on their dash. I opted to plug my DashLogic in and voila it shows what I wanted it to show.

Just figured I'd answer that question for you schpenxel as I remember it was brought up a while ago.

Glad to see the alarm works. I found out that the factory washer low message doesn't show up when dash logic is connected. Or at least it didn't for me, so I set up something similar

Speaking of which, I need to go get some more methanol!

right because every message that comes through that DIC gets masked by the DashLogic. As long as you have a custom warning programmed into it it'll show (as I just demonstrated). I feel better now beating on the car.
