Default My F1-R build thread (RESULTS ARE IN)

Although my build is almost done, I figured I should do a build a thread for the hell of it. My car is a 09' Z that previously was at ~750whp with E85 and nitrous. The goal of this build is around 1000whp on boost and close to 1100whp with a small shot.

Main parts of the build.
  • LS7 Block with Darton wet sleeves - ended up being around ~431ci after the machine work.
  • Callies Dragonslayer Crank
  • Callies Ultra H-Beams
  • Custom JE dish pistons
  • Custom blower cam
  • Katech High volume oil pump
  • LS6 water pump
  • ZR1 compressor and MAP
  • Dewitts shortened radiator with dual SPAL fans
  • Ditching LG 1 7/8 headers for 2" ARH
  • Stock LS7 rockers with OEM intake and SS exhaust valves
  • Ported LS7 intake manifold (sold FAST 102 for fear of coming apart and my NW 102 TB)
  • Valve job with new guides. No porting.
  • DP Big mouth intake
  • Polished F1-R with 10 rib DD system
  • 10 rib IW balancer
  • Allstar performance custom breather system (bung welded on each valve cover)
  • Adding a Magnafuel 750 on top of the existing in tank Walbro 450
  • ID 2000s
  • E85
  • Nitrous
  • Weld 17x11 RTS rear wheels
  • M&H 325/45/17 Racemasters

    Additions/Changes during build and testing.
  • Procharger "Race" tri-core intercooler
  • Custom oil cooler setup
  • RPS Triple Billet Carbon Clutch and ZR1 slave
  • RSD 4pt roll bar with Crow harnesses
  • Vi-King dual adjustable shocks

Don't have a lot of pictures but here are some. Let me know what you think!

He stated he was shooting for 1000 and 1100 with spray.

What compression ratio are you at? What psi will you have to push to get to 1000? Crazy build

Right... I'm curious what it will actually make on the dyno and the power curve

Are those the CA625+ headstuds? And if so what horsepower point are they good for before the heads lift?

Those look black and 625 studs aren't black. I may be stating the obvious when I say that there are many factors that determine how much pressure can be held by an engine. The studs aren't going to give any but to get much more clamping force than a ARP2000 stud, you'll need to consider going to a larger diameter studs so you don't rip the threads out of the block. This is repeating what a qualified engineer shared with me, although I torqued my standard diameter 625's to around 105ft lbs.
Next is the head deck thickness and material. The thicker the material, the better chance you have of it not flexing (another obvious statement).
The head gasket is always a consideration as is prep.
The deck and head surfaces are often overlooked. Many consider the machine shop or factory finish of a head or block sufficient, when it is often not. I prefer to lap my heads with 400grit sand paper to get the roughness to an appropriate level. For the block, I have a large, flat bar that I use if I'm able. I won't do it if the block is together and I can't wash it thoroughly or at least turn the block upside down to prevent any grit from getting into the motor.
My apologies for the hijack.

Wicked build OP! Should be a real treat to stomp on people with.

I am using this ARP kit. They are not the CA625s

I am really curious to see the power curve on this car. Anyone have any guesses based on other builds here? Thanks everyone for the replies!

My only concern would be the blower running out of breath up top on the larger displacement motor. I remember WhiteLightening having an issue with that on a 434ci f1r setup. I'd guess just under 1k on blower

Holidays slowed the build down of course but here is a updated picture while test fitting the piping.

The F1R with a 4.25"/8" pulley combo will come on hard, quick, then likely start to peter out around 6k, by 6500 your power curve will likely be dropping pretty hard. You will probably be hard pressed to hit 1000rwhp with the R, it will be very close...also depending on how aggressive you are on the tune and Ofcourse the rest of the combo. I could see it maybe hitting 1000rwhp very early on, maybe by 6k, then tanking afterwards.

This is just my uneducated guesses based off of my 2 years of experience running an F1R.

I'm sub'd for your updates and ofcourse your dyno numbers. Make sure to bring a velocity stack with you to the dyno and remove the filter/pipe.

Thank you for the info. I was considering the F1X when I purchased this head unit. I thought that my 4-bolt setup however would not allow the X to shine though. How do you think the powerbands between a maxed out R and a low spun X would compare at the 1kwhp mark?
