Default ethanol content gauge I've been working on

I've been wanting to come up with my own display for ethanol content (that also shows temperature) for a while now. A piece of hardware recently came out that is perfectly suited for what I wanted to do, so I began working. I finally got around to finishing the code and testing it out. I wanted something that didn't tie up the OBD-2 port, and the Zeitronix one is just a little too out-dated looking (and amazingly expensive) with it's 7-segment LCD. This one uses an OLED that is super clear. I also built in error checking so that the gauge can recognize problems like water contamination (results in signal high), dead signal, or temperature out of range. The default is to display ethanol content, but it can be switched over to display fuel temperature (nice for return system guys who want to keep an eye on fuel temp).

In the spirit of thorough testing, I was literally filling the sensor with various fluids to make sure it all worked. 93 octane registered 9% alcohol (typical), local ethanol fuel registered 65%, water triggered signal high, and vodka triggered signal high (I was curious). For testing temperature, I knew that true ice water should show 32°, so I literally had the sensor submerged in a cup of ice water in my kitchen sink. Lol.

It's actually not for my car. My turd is retired. I'm just making them in general.

Will it fit under the navigation near the cigarette lighter? I hope to get a flex fuel setup from you around tax time. This would be a neat adder for sure. Any other color options?

Hmmmm...... I would love one of these for checking the E85 content. From store to store, summer to winter, I have heard it can vary from E70 to E90. I would be nice to know the exact level to adjust timing for the mix. PM me if you make an extra one to sell me.

BTW, nice work

You need an actual sensor to use this display just fyi. The display is only meant to interpret the sensor's data signal.

That's pretty cool. What are you using on the hardware side to do this (microcontroller, oled screen, sensor)?

The OLED setup has a microcontroller built in. The flex fuel sensor is just a GM sensor.

I need to finalize some stuff on the hookup side for these. Otherwise, they're fully vetted.

Dave, I've been contemplating the conversion with your FF sensor kit. I was wondering, is it pretty easy to wire a wideband sensor to a DashLogic?
