Who here is running an RPM Level X 4L65
Auto Conversion looks to be the final step once I finish up my car this time around. I am hesitant on going to the 4L80 because of the added weight, parasitic loss, and shear amount of customizing and massaging of the car to make it work.
My seemingly very short list of options are:
PG Conversion
Or a Level X 4L65
The car is mostly street and highway, so I am somewhat hesitant about going glide, although it will make the car an animal from a dig. Car will be making between 950-1100 on my manual trans for now...
So I am curious as to who has a Level X:
How long hve you had it?
Street? Strip? Both? How many passes from a dead hook? How is it holding up?
What power level are you at?
Would you have done differently?
Wonder if RPM will come up with a level 12 soon haha! Or maybe they will do some extra beefing up of the X for me in particular. It's an expensive piece as is, around 6k no core.

Not a lot of people on the forum running the X yet, hell they just came out with the X last year. Lots of people running the level 7 though. The X is basically just a 7 with a Sonnax drum, bolt on billet end cap and I believe a thicker or extra clutch plate in the drum.
Lots of people have the 7 with good success and a few had some bad luck.. However I don't know of anyone on CF with 1000rwhp thru a 60e besides Arun, who did make 1k.
Most of the cars with 4l60s are in the 800-900rwhp (locked) range, and they seem to hold up ok there.
3-4 clutches are the first thing to go.
I'll be pushing the limit of a 60e as well as I won't be doing an 80e conversion on my car.

Good convo between me and him earlier. His is holding up to 1050rwhp. Car has already been in the 8s with it.
There has to be more than one person with this transmission though....

Yup. I've seen it run 8's. A beast. I will probably be doing a swap myself eventually. Don't think my 6L80 will like a YSI for too long.

Your friend told me if he could do it over he would have gotten an extra gear set to soften up the strain on he launch. No cheap but worth it. He also didn't care for a trans brake much. He doesn't have one and is cutting Nasty 60' and running 8s.

Not sure how you soften the launch and still run 8's. Lol
I wouldn't get a trans brake either. I'm not that serious about racing.
I don't know when. I will see how mine does this summer. Then figure out what to do.

If I recall doesn't "itstock" the white 8 second AMS car have that trans in it? From what I see that car runs strong! Thought it made like 9 something but on a mustang dyno!
after checking it out... 930 wheel on a stang dyno is about 1k wheel on a dyno jet, I'd contact him and see how his VII is holding up!

I got the level X last march as a late Christmas present. If any changes in technology or better parts come out, it will go in the level X and still be called the level X. I also did the stage 4 diff and brace at the same time. They did a stage 1 A&A, dewatts radiator, and dual fan while working on the car. I was building up the car for when I remove the restrictor and add a 100 shot.

I will be testing my level x rpm in the fall...
Stay off dynos and I think we got a bullet proof piece here
