Shouldn't even be a question if you are making over 900hp, you should have a 15.

are ppl getting beed locks cause they look tuff or cause they actually need it? i think i read on welds site u only need them once u approx 160mph at the track??

the wheels will stick out of the wheel wells
they dont allow any "give" witch helps my car from breaking my c5 dif so far..let them spin away alot cheaper to rebalance

Almost everyone is doing it for looks.
The bottom 8, 7, 6 second cars need them.

I originally did them for the look, but there was a great up side. They keep the DR a lot more stable at high speeds keeps there form and doesn't let them deform.

Melting Slicks
Actually I was spinning wheels on my tires about 2" every pass on my 16" bogart setup. When I went 15s I had them beadlocked to avoid this problem.

Not sure what your talking about. With proper tire they don't stick out.

Single. Not sure anyone has double on a vette.

Couple of guys run doubles....requires A-arm mod (Farks Supercars) to clear the inner lock.
And FYI, lotttts of car running very quick with zero beadlocks.
Like 1.1x 60's and 4.8x in the 1/8th....MEK the bead then Permatex HYTACK the bead. The tire will generally move an inch or two on the first couple track outings, then seat.
IMHO, the beadlocks deal has become a fad....unless your running sub 5.oh 1/8th times.
Look at the weight also, one lock weights roughly 5lbs with hardware, so inner and outers would add over 20lbs to your rotating weight.....your $hit better be real quick to justify that....of course IMHO.

It all depends on how you have the beadlock installed. They can install them on the outside of the rim or cut the lip so they won't be wider. That is what champion said when they did mine.
