Default 1000RWHP tire advice

What are all you 1000+rwhp guys dong for rubber? I am looking something for roll racing/ standing mile. Not much drag stuff. I am open to 15"-19" wheel suggestions.

15's would be your best bet but if you don't want to do spindles etc. 17's at a minimum. M/T ET Street or M&H Racemasters.

I don't mind doing spindles. I am just not sure if 15's are much better than 18's if I am primarily starting from a roll.

At that power M/T is the way to go in my opinion.

I have the same question too so I'm glad you got the topic going. I was wondering why a 15" rim with a taller profile is better than a 18-19" rim with the lower profile if the tire is just as tall and wide?

More meat (sidewall) to absorb the power. At 1xxxrw you want the most sidewall possible.

Absolutely they are. Even with 15's don't expect to hook even from a roll at your power level.

15“ is bit better but you will still have issue. Tire air pressure is really important.

I run 18 345 ET streets daily, and 15" 325 ET streets for events. The 15s hook MUCH better. Best traction is a 275 15" ET pro, but they wear out quicker than the 325s.

im hooking 1100 wheel on my 345 35 18 et street 2 mickeys at 40 on the road very well on my zr1. weight transfer on the stock soft shocks help a ton on the mag ride though.

planning on running the new 325 50 15 street R mickey on my z06 when they release this summer though. they look like the new tire to have

For those of you on 17's, do you prefer the 315/35R17 or 335/35R17 M/T & Hoosier DR's which are around 25.6" tall or the 325/45R17 M&H DR's which are 28" tall? I am currently running the 335 Hoosiers and am curious if switching to the taller 325 M&H would result in negative performance due to the greater rotating weight and height or greater performance due to increased traction from the larger roll out area? The 335 Hoosier has the widest contact patch and is the lightest drag radial, and the M&H is the tallest and heaviest option but will have the better gearing for high hp applications.

I don't go corner carving with them so they handle fine for cruising around town and free, and ive taken them to 186 in the 1/2 mile at 12 lbs and its stable as can be.

tire life is alright. I don't expect a ton of life out of them. this last set I got a 2 day air strip event out of them (with about 13 burn outs) and 3k miles out of them.

ive never used the 325 45 17, but if I were in your shoes and looking to take the car out to Tx2k I would go with them as they are taller and help gearing and non prepped traction. if its a strip car I would go with a shorter hoosier

I ran the 315/35/17 Hoosiers for a while. That tire only being 25.6' tall raises your gear ratio and makes it harder to hook. With your progressive controller and ProEFI, that may not be an issue. The 325 M&H will actually have a larger contact patch than the 335 Hoosiers because the sidewall will flex and flatten out, widening your contact area.

I opted for the 325 M&Hs this time around as I wanted a taller tire and to get the most I can out of each gear. I would go this route personally with the amount of torque your big nitrous setup is making.

Yea, that's what I'm thinking as well. Better order a pair to get some heat cycling done before TX2K and TI.

After "oversized" shipping charges, American Muscle had them cheapest at $606 shipped. Jegs and Summit are close to $630 shipped.

My first heat cycle will be the burnout box before my first run at TX2k haha
