Default UPP TT LS2 aluminum block

Hi everyone,

I'm going to the dyno on Wednesday for my max effort numbers. I know my setup will exceed the limits of the block but I love living on the edge. :-)
The car is a LS2 forged 408 with TFS 225 heads, methanol, unleaded racegas and a 100 shot plate.
I made 870whp at 14 lbs no methanol or nitrous last time with a slipping clutch. I have it all fixed now and ready to rock.
Any people with experience on a FI 408 above 1000hp? Will the block live short term?
What's your vote: push it to 1100 or cap it at 900-1000?

I'd be concerned pushing to 1100 even though the LS2 is a very strong block.

I'm in the same boat with an older LS6 alum block and TTix turbos. I'm thinking I'm going iron block but hate the idea of more weight

love to hear experience pushing the alum block to past 1k hp at the tire

maybe an L33 with the thicker sleeves and a smaller bore would be better if you want to stay alum.

I'm on the fence!

The block will be fine at 1000-1100whp as long as the machine work is spot on. Main studs, head studs, and a good tune up are a must at that power level and if you don't want the main caps to move, its a good Idea to pin them. Every aluminum engine ive pushed north of 900whp or seen pushed north of 900whp has shown evidence of the main caps/bearings scrubbing upon disassembly. The more ridged things are, the longer they will last. Pushing the LS2 block with stock bore past 1000whp is not abnormal by any means.

Thanks!
Sounds like you have experience! What about an overbore 408ci like my setup? I'm doing a half mile race so I'll be making long pulls but honestly I don't drive the car much. Any advice on what power I should call it? I just need it to make it through the summer until I'm moved into my new house then I'm building an aftermarket block for it.

What this is basically saying is that if everything is perfect it'll be fine.

Translation: A >1000 RWHP stroked LS2 is on the edge at >=1000RWHP which I agree with. Once you crack a grand you can have the best of the best and still have to expect things to happen.

Yeah, I think I'll keep it around 900-1000. I'm really traction limited at this power anyway. Tomorrow is my dyno day so I'll keep everyone posted.

I finished the tune and stopped at 1027whp and 963ft lbs. So far so good!

What did it do without the nitrous? Those are great numbers.

What turbos are you on? The 62's I would anticipate.

No nitrous. 15.5lbs of boost on sunoco 104 unleaded fuel. I have the upgraded kit with the GT35r (61.7mm I think is the actual size)

The numbers do seem very high for 15psi.

What were you seeing for peak timing / AFR?

I never get hung up on dyno numbers, but to make that power under 20psi is pretty damn impressive with a 408.

208kpa (15.4lbs) with 22 degrees of timing @ 11.5 AFR.
Another fourm member made 1020 with the same turbo kit @18 lbs with stock ls3 heads, stock intake and a blower cam.
I think a lot of my power at this boost comes from the custom vengeance racing cam, fast 102 intake and the TFS 225 heads. Just guessing though.
I am really happy with the results! The car is at the fab shop now getting a roll cage for the wannagofast VA half mile race. I have 5 gopros on and ready for the event so I'll post some results!

Honestly, it's one of the best fuels I've used for unleaded! Sunoco 260GT Plus.

Killer power for such low psi! Congrats!

22* timing = time bomb in my opinion. I'd definitely pull the timing back on it before actually making any passes. I wouldn't even run that much timing on C16..

Hopefully it stays together for ya. Post up the trap speeds when you run it! It ought to haul a$$ for sure.

Nice power for sure. Is this running filters and full exhaust? Compression? Any details on those items?

After looking at my logs it is a lot of timing because the load is low. (non load control dyno) The car makes 15.5lbs and falls off the 13 up top with a very low airmas calculation.
Once the roll cage is done tomorrow I'll get it on the street and keep a close eye on it. I have an audible knock monitor and keeping a close watch on everything.
