Default Don't wanna spend +$1k on a vented hood? Look no further!

Well like most of us blown c6 in the desert, car tends to run hot in stop and go traffic during summer. I have a DeWitt radiator,160 stat+water wetter without dexcool. In our 110+summer car ran hot in traffic. I tried the spacer on the hood latch but it looked ugly. I didn't want to spend $1000+ on a vented hood and plus paint. Also I didn't find one that I loved. So what did I do? I spend $100 on a 5th Gen Camaro hood vent I found on ls1tech.com. I made a pattern and tape the hood so I won't mess up the paint. I found the center of the hood and traced it on. I crossed my fingers and went ahead and cut my stock hood...The fitment and the curve contour matches perfect and looks like the vent came from the factory. I'm very happy how it looks. What do you guys think?

Had a body shop do mine, think the underside came out really well and has a very clean professional look.

Thanks! Cutting the hood with a cut off wheel and a gig saw on the corners was super easy.

Another option would be the zr1 hood inserts with vents.

http://www.acscomposite.com/store/#!...3626&id=697603

Rain/debris isn't an issue. This isn't the 50s. Everything is weather sealed. Only issue would be if you put a vent right over your air filter or a filter that would just get water dumped on it.

I think OPs vent is sicker than that one..

I agree with Unreal, isnt the C7 open vented stock? Shouldnt be an issue, u might need to clean engine bay more often tho...

c7, 2014+ camaros, 2013+ mustangs, etc etc all have vented factory hoods. Only issue I've had is you get water spots all over so after washing car need to wipe down valve covers/etc if you want a pretty motor.

This. Had vented hoods on my car for several years, never one issue.

Besides as you mention it seems to get a bit dirty. But cars been rained on or washed a thousand times with no failures or problems
