super loud bov noise normal?
today at a local Cars and Coffee show, a guy with a c7 pulled up. you could hear it pull up from a really long way and it sounded like a busted air hose releasing all the compressed air out of a air compressor tank the entire time he was pulling through the parking lot.
guy had an ECS supercharger. is it designed to be that loud and needed or is that now an choice some guys are going for now?

See a lot of posts here talking about the street sweeper sound. Some like it some hate it. Currently researching a way to make sure I don't end up with it myself.

ah....I always wondered what the guys were talking about when they said "street sweeper" lol. that is exactly what this car sounded like.

yeah, I am doing research myself and trying to round up funds. I need to keep mine off of my wifes radar to keep a happy home, but me happy on the street
So I need one factory stealth. hopefully my headers I already have will cover any other sound byproduct. Looking at the edelbrock unit for my needs.

Thing is, only sounds like that under vacuum, basically low speed deceling. Driving around with throttle, WOT, or once your moving it goes away. Now if you down shift and bring the revs up and are slowing down, basically engine breaking then yes you get that noise. A blower spinning at 4k is moving a lot of air and if you are just decelling it has to go somewhere.
As soon as any throttle is applied, noise goes away.

It's all going to depend on the bypass/BOV location and if it has a filter. Deep in the engine bay is pretty quiet but put it somewhere it can resonate like near the hood/bumper and it sounds loud as hell. Some have filters to act as mufflers and some don't. Depends on what you like to hear.

That's not what most of us don't like. Sure, they sound cool when you're free revving them like that. It's the constant loud hissing/air rushing type noise that you get during normal around town driving. Decelerating in gear was where it bugged me the most. Shifts in a manual car also sound funny. You don't get the turbo "pssstt" sound when you shift -- more of a long hiss noise. The higher you keep the revs during normal driving, the more noticeable it is.

Depends on the car and setup. Mine has the crisp "psstt" when I shift.

Only hear mine when I'm at low speeds or downshifting. Love the sound it makes.

the sound I was asking about.... was a constant loud /blowing type sound. like a street sweeper or turbine type engine. or maybe even when they race jet cars at the dragstrip and they are holding the brake before launch. literally you could hear this car coming from across the parking lot. he wasnt driving fast or trying to show off, but he got a lot of attention because no one around here knew what was going on.
I guess its by choice he wants his car to sound like that.

Not sure if you can really tell from a video, but on this 1000 hp dyno pull you can see that my BOV is not nearly as loud as some others.
