885rwhp car with traction issue...HELP
Hey guys, I've got a GS with 17x11 welds with 325/45/17 MH tires on
20psi that still have a loose traction.
When I punch it, it plants the rear and goes but it's very loose like it's not "hooking"....it's Squirrley...what do you think is the issue.... I do heat tires up before punching it.....HELP!

Burning Brakes
When you say it plants and goes but feels squirrelly do you mean the tires stick and its loose feeling, or the tires don't stick? It sounds like what you are feeling is side wall flex. It has a loose feeling even though it hooks. If that's the issue its really something you have to just get used to. You can add some air as long as it still hooks and that will help some. Obviously if the tires don't stick, adding air will just make it worse.

EXTREMESPEED is EXACTLY right
We ran 325 17 M&H's at a roll race with a car that makes over 1000 RWHP (a camaro) and the car dead hooked from a 60 MPH roll but YES, you will get some lateral movement on these tires at speed because the sidewalls are softer which is what is allows the tires to hook up in the first place. A 28 inch 35 series 28 inch tire WONT have the lateral side movement but it wont hook up as well either.
The LESS air you run in the tires, the MORE lateral movement you will get out of the tire at higher speeds but typically the tire will BITE more.
So the bottom line is the car will feel more squirrely at speed than your normal set of tires.

I would lower the tire pressure but don't lower it too much to where it could potentially mess up the balance of the tires. I have 18 inch wheels and use the 345/35/18 and if I hit it in 2nd gear with 20psi in the tires it messes up the balance. I've had the same issue with M&H and Mickey Thompson. I've had decent luck between 22-25psi but it still spins in 2nd gear and grabs in 3rd. If I'm going to do a pull from 2nd gear I'll "ease" into the throttle vs "stabbing" the pedal with my foot for traction. Hope this helps.

Melting Slicks
my supra @ ~900rwhp (and the 1184rwhp obviously too) used to face 1 o'clock when I floored it while spinning to about 130 on M&H 17" 325s on the street. Was scary, but awesome.
You have to get them hot to get them sticky.
