Procharger i-1 system for the 08-13 C6
Hello,
Was wondering if anyone on here is looking into getting the Procharger I-1 system for the C6?
I was always hesitant on going FI on my car (see sig for my cars options) because of traction issues. I have been told by some that it wouldn't be a problem and I have been told by some that it would be a problem, unless your running it on a track prepped surface. I don't track my car at all but I wouldn't mind adding extra ponies though. I know I don't need a SC but after all isn't adding things like this what us enthusiasts do? I don't launch the car often but I do step into it here and there from 20 to 30mph rolls, I mainly back off after 2nd. Even then I feel the rear wanting to wiggle unless the tires are heated. I have Michelin PS2 ZP by the way. I am more of a brief acceleration guy than a sustained top speed junkie. That really isn't the main issue, what I would really like to know if anyone has any thoughts on this unit I would be greatly appreciative of it, thanks!

If you're worried about traction issues and don't feel you really need more power, then I probably wouldn't recommend installing any supercharger. You'll likely be roasting those PS2s through 1st and 2nd. The real fun on an FI car comes in the higher gears in my opinion.
I don't think many here have experience with the i-1. I think it's a cool idea, but a Procharger system wouldn't be high on my list if I were buying a centrifugal blower system today. Both A&A and ECS seem to have their C6 systems more ironed out. Both have their plusses and minuses, but are the best C6 centri kits available if that's what you're after.

Thank you for the replies... I knew traction will be a problem in 1st and 2nd. I would love the fact that I have an SC installed but its really not practical just to have I would prefer usable power and honestly (traction wise) my car is probably not set-up for anything over 500rwhp (its stock rims and tires on a C6 Z51 vert). I was thinking of installing a FAST 102mm intake (since I already have a Callaway honker and ported TB) and maybe do a heads and mild cam package. I figure I can still keep good traction if I just hover around the 500rwhp mark. And at the car will still be tame in 1st and 2nd. With my current mods I am probably close to 450rwhp now. Adding an SC with my current mods might put me close to the 600rwhp mark.
Thanks again for your input

Subbed.
Initially thinking of going Procharger i-1 myself. However, while with the same desired power/driving goals, I like the philosophy of minimalist mods for higher performance. Adding this SC seems minimal and probably will give the power and fun factor we're looking for, I think there are guys out there that have done it right with bolts-ons, stalls, gearing, etc that do push into 460+rwhp range and are breaking into the 10s in the 1/4.
I want to find those guys and rule out that setup before going with my preferred choice of an i-1 or ECS kit.

Someone needs to do the i1 already..

If you get the i-1 for your car, I can assure you traction is going to be a major issue.
Its like having the best of both worlds, down low boost and the high end charge of a centrifugal. HOWEVER....
The best part is being able to bring the boost in slow till about 3,200rpm, then making it flat from there up. It really seems to help the Vettes hook up, and then pull like a freight train up top. Having to much to soon, just ends up in tire smoke.
I drive an i-1 vehicle daily, so I have plenty of time to enjoy this thing.

I looked at the i1 a little over a year ago when I did my A&A. The reason I didn't go with it was there was just not any real world experience with it. I could only find like 1 guy that had done it on a Vette, and while it looked cool, I just wasn't comfortable with that little history on it. It was also more expensive than what the A&A/ECS kits were.

I was going to put one on my wife's camaro, but the software max boost is 7psi. There was an article where they got a patch from Procharger and could make 9psi, but that's a showstopper for me at the moment.
Besides that, it looks really cool and I'd love to have one, but I want to make more than 7 or maybe even 9 psi would make.

The programming available with the system was nifty to say the least. I enjoyed feeling like I was a tuner and being able to set how my custom boost came on and stayed on. If you go with this system do the smart thing and opt for the touchscreen, it's a must have. And you can set a password so no random person can beat on the car in full boost. The touchscreen looks like a Garmin GPS and so no gauge cluster to ruin the sleeper look.

I have a 2009 ls3 vette and I want to make around 800rwhp would the i-1 be a set up that could provide this or should I look into another kit?

Looks nice! That is a big *** head unit to get in a Corvette engine bay.
Let us know how it turns out and how you like it. I always liked the idea behind their "i" setup.. I just haven't seen a whole lot about how well it works in the real world.

Yeah it was on the dyno last week and pulled 560 in comp mod but we were having belt slip issues with the one procharger provided, switch it to a gates green back belt today and no belt slip issues hopefully will get it back on the dyno next week. Only right of the bat problem was the procharger makes a lot of noise at low idle rpm with the cam we put in it. Managed to increase the idle rpm to 700-750 and the problem went away.

Cool, are the ratios continuously variable or does it have just a few ratios you can get?

The blower actually gradually Increases boost in sport mod which limits the amount of traction lost. Procharger has told me that any boost number between their ranges is achievable which I presume means that any ratio is achievable with in the limits of the unit.
