LSX Iron block Knock HPT sensor settings
Hi Everyone,
I finally got my car back together and I have the motor broken in and ready for some power.
The problem I'm facing is with the Knock Retard going crazy. With a 10:1 427ci compression engine, 8lbs of boost on pump gas and meth i get 3-6 counts of Knock Retard @ 18 degrees of timing.
I ran 20 degrees on pump without meth on my LS2 aluminum block (same turbos and intercooler) and never had an issue.
My assumption is the KR is false because the stock settings are for the aluminum.
Does anyone have experience with changing these for the iron block?

I'm going to state the obvious..
Have you tried dialing it back to something like 10-12* just to see if it goes away?

Or looking for what is causing false knock?
Never touched my settings. They are all factory. No fall knock, no spec LSX settings. If you are getting knock all over, figure out why.

I've gone all the way to 9* to see if it went away. It gets better but doesn't go away. I may throw some race gas in it next week and see if it clears up.

Since the forum seems to be a bit quiet, let me write some nonsense.
In practice GM knock sensor is a microphone.
So it is able to detect, well, knock. Because knock is often audible.
You can actually hear it by yourself as well, if properly (aftermarket) equipped.
Some folks may have damaged their ears, including me, so I don't actually hear it too well. I have a drop somewhere between 2000....5000 Hz.
Now the fun stuff. Since dogs learn almost anything nowadays, why don't you teach one for detecting a real knock.
Just an idea for a boring Tuesday.
