How many of you have "spun" a crank pulley?
The motor has about 2k miles on it, all stock pulleys and accessories. I was driving the other night doing some logs, when all of a sudden I lost power steering, the lights dimmed, and the car ended up dying as I was pulling into the nearest parking spot.
The pulley didnt show any signs of wobbling or anything prior to this happening. With the car off you can grab the belt and and spin the crank pulley. I know this is sometimes a problem with blower cars, which require you to pin the crank, but I have never heard of this happening with a turbo car before?

Balancer failure even on stock cars is very common. The rubber fails. Get an aftermarket one. It probably isn't spinning on the crank but just a failed balancer.

I watched the bolt spin with the engine running and the pulley sit there... I always have the stupidest **** happen to my car. Theyre giving me a new pulley for free, Im going to pin it and run it till I build the motor next year. Ill do an ATI then.

Mine spin on my turbo car. It was/is an ATI with an ARP bolt. It was noticed when oil was coming out the back, coming from the front main. the balancer was almost to the rack. It's pinned laterally and radially now. I had put the ATI on because I had a Professional Products straight come apart on me.

The bolt was basically finger tight... And I was able to remove the pulley with my hands. The crank looks fine, I hope. I'll find out tomorrow when I put a new one on.

A&A centrifugal superchargers are pinned. Adds a big expense to the installation. The front "bumper" actually a fascia, and a lot of the front end, has to be removed to drill the pulley. If the people doing this know what they're doing they remove and replace all the stuff without anyone knowing anything was ever removed.

Need a small'ish right angle drill, but that is much preferred over pulling the steering rack

That's what I did but I pulled the rack up and was able to get the pulley out.
