Well you guys are always assuming that nothing was tweaked either during disassembly or assembly, and if you put main studs on a motor it does change the spacing a small amount usually not enough to do any harm if that's all that has changed, but then some have to space for aftermarket rods or crank etc... Now I didn't read exactly what was done to his motor to know. Just throwing it out there, but I'm sure you guys already knew this stuff. But it looks like another O-ring strikes again lol! On the pick up/Pan spacing I usually like about 1/4" but no more than 3/8's, but that is just what I shoot for. Hope its all fixed with that O=ring!

I had good luck installing the o-ring about halfway on the pickup side, slathering it in assembly lube and engine oil and then pulling the pickup on (I was working from the top side). You could feel it give when it went together. Should go by hand.. shouldn't need to tighten the bolt to pull it on

Agree.. .should go on by hand.. it was easy for me as I installed everything with the engine on a stand. As someone mentioned, the windage tray, and in turn the pickup get moved a little with spacers when using a stroker crank, but that is not an issue in itself.

Right yes but doable correct? Wouldn't tight be showing me high oil pressure.

Like I said in my earlier post that I've seen some factory motors that tight, but no one should be setting up a performance motor that tight. Like I said just make sure you let the car warm up well before doing anything other than slow normal driving. The AL. blocks will grow about one thou. when they get up to temp, but still relatively tighter than most performance motors would be setup normally. But it might be fine, just put some miles on it before trying to kill it for sure. GL! Oh And yes the tight clearances should help generate more oil pressure, but the AL. grow everywhere and bleed oil off. when hot IE: like the lifter bores etc...

Ok guys cars up and running!!!! No funny noises and the oil pressure is sitting at 45 psi when warm!!!

Awesome! Glad to hear it was a (relatively) easy fix....

It's crazy that o-ring made that much difference. I understand why.. but still

Thanks man. This takes such a weight off of my shoulders. Hopefully start tuning it tomorrow and get it on the Dyno late tomorrow evening.
