1/2 mile or 1 mile brake pads
What pads work great for one slow down from 180+? Something that works cold and has good bite and can withstand repeated 180+ runs with 10+ minutes of cooldown between.
At the 1/2 mile it is getting sketchy slowing down from 180+. Looking at doing some new rotors/pads to make it better. Running stock rotors with Hawk HPS but I don't like how they feel after slowing from 180 to 120. Pedal feels like crap and stopping power just isn't there.
Looking at Zip 2 piece rotors and maybe some Carbotech pads.

A high torque brake compound with a wide operating temperature range of 200°F-1250°F+ (93°C to 676°C+). Carbotech™ XP8™ is the first of our racing compounds. Good initial bite at race temperatures, high coefficient of friction, excellent modulation and release characteristics. Extremely high fade resistance and very rotor friendly. Perfect for track day use with any tire and can still be driven safely to and from the track. Carbotech™ does NOT recommended XP8™ as a daily driven street pad due to elevated levels of dust and noise. Carbotech™ XP8™ is a great compound on the front & rear of most open wheel and sports racers.

I bought the AX6 on a professional recommendation but am seeing fade with aggressive street driving. Friends who drive the tail of the dragon a lot use the Xp10s front and 8s in the back. I will go withs 10s all around next pad change.

Often overlooked but I have found from spirited street driving that using a high temp brake fluid like willwood EXP 600 and regularly flushing the lines every few months helped my car tremendously with pedal feel from 180+ slow downs.

Melting Slicks
Hawk HP + pads front and rear have always worked well for me. I'm not sure about some of the other pads but be prepared for a high pitched noise at low speeds with a more aggressive pad depending on the material.

Ordered the carbotech XP8 pads. KNS brakes with the 12% off was by far the cheapest for those.
Probably order the zip rotors later today. They are $80 more than then DBAs but the slots match the back, and they are 2lbs lighter than the DBA or Stoptechs so probably just go with those.

I'll be curious to hear your reviews...I put carbotech bobcats on my base with some slotted dba rotors and it was a nice upgrade. I would say when the mile racing hits AR this summer I'll probably change pads and the XP8 has my eye.
