6 rib with flip drive? Ecs 1500
I have an Ecs 1500 kit, power goals are 700-800 wheel nothing more. Is a 6 rib setup with the cartek flip drive enough? Is the 8 rib with a flip drive overkill? Is the flip drive even needed with an 8 rib setup?

Good luck with that.. they aren't selling it right now last I heard
If you are going to be sticking with the 1500 head unit you'll be fine on the base 6 rib IMO. Call them and ask but plenty of cars are running around in the 750rwhp range on their base setup.

you should be fine with just a standard 6 rib (no flip drive) at 700 or slightly more, 800 is probably pushing it... if you go with a flip/secondary drive you might as well upgrade to an 8 rib on the blower side... since your idlers are already setup for 8 rib the only other things you would need is a balancer and blower pulley

Probably would be better to call them as it may have changed by now and I don't want to give out bad info. My understanding is they needed to have a drawing on file with SFI in order for it to still be SFI approved after they cogged the balancer. Until that got done they were not selling anymore.

Like ^^^ said until it gets SFI certed it isn't worth the liability.

Correct, along with a multitude of other small things. We are working it now though.

Just to double check:
I can get the SC1500, put on an 8 rib Balancer, with an 8 rib SC pulley, run it as a 6 rib setup, then add the flip drive later if needed?
If I am planning on going with a flip drive would it make sense to get a standard diameter balancer (LS2 stock bottom end). Is there any other reason to have the larger diameter balancer for SC?

Yes, but make sure you're using an 8 rib balancer made for c6's. One of the cheaper ones like the c2501 that summit sells has 8 ribs but the extra two are towards the back of the balancer which makes them not usable.
Over sized = more belt wrap, which is always a good thing IMO. You can use a larger head unit pulley to keep boost down if needed.
If you do get an oversized balancer make sure whoever you order the SC kit from knows about it. One of the parts for the belt tensioner has a different version for oversized balancer so that the tensioner doesn't smack the balancer if a belt were to break.

has anyone logged voltage drop from flip drive belt slip with a billet tech upgraded alternator?
I remember there was 1-2 guys in here with flip drives and billet tech alternators that said they were logging it and never saw any issues
I've never used 6 rib or flip drive but made 760whp, 870whp and now 907whp on a normal 8 rib with a D1SC procharger so I'd imagine an 8 rib belt would also get it done

I can't really see how it could dip since the billet tech puts out full amps and voltage at extremely low rpm. Even if the belt slipped a little, it will still spin enough to put out full power.
