Default Help need CAM for a Grand sport

2011 Grand sport M6

What is a good cam to get for the car to make hp and tq .

My goal is only 100hp more is this doable?

Is GM Hot cam the place to start?

Also car is under after market warranty .

Is there a way to get a cam without the service rep knowing it ?

Just about any of the cam vendors can sell you a cam that will make quite a bit more HP and torque. BUT, getting 100hp from a cam change alone is a very tall order, if at all possible, and even a cam that nets you 60-75 will result in a very choppy idle, bucking, surging/lighting at slow speeds.
The GM HOT cam is NOT the place to start. That's an outdated LS1 grind that only makes another 40-50 FWHP IIRC.
You may be able to put a small (less than 215* intake duration) cam with a wide enough lobe separation angle to escape the "ear test", but a good tech that knows what he's looking for in MAP readings will be able to figure it out, if he wants to. A cam like that won't get you much more than about 30-40hp though.
The best thing to do, after searching around on these forums and listening to sound clips for various cams, is call an expert (which I am far from being) like Pat G or Brian Tooley and tell them what you want and need and see what they say. A camshaft change is quite a bit of labour and tends to be an 'acquired taste" kinda thing.
Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

Oh, since you're in the forced induction forum, I feel obliged to advise you that if you're looking for another 100hp, the cheapest way to get that is nitrous, albeit for only temporary bursts, and the best way is a blower kit!

If you want to keep a warranty, you are in the wrong forum sub section

Look in the general C6 section and use the search feature to read up on some heads and cam swaps. Should have plenty of information in there for you.

A cam that gains 100whp will be very noticeable and will require supporting mods on the exhaust side.

I did my cold air intake, vengeance racing cam (kaotik cam), kooks 1 7/8 headers and I went from 380 to 486 wheel on my grandsport. The cam also works well with a supercharger hence the forced induction section.

The lopes really nice, drives the same as before. It sounds real aggressive but it doesn't drive like it.

Here's a clip of our old shop Grand Sport with the Kaotik cam, ARH longtubes, and ZR1 catback.

This cam is very DD friendly while still giving an aggressive idle and balanced powerband. I have many customers using this cam for nearly every application. Give us a call or e-mail me at David@vengeanceracing.net if you want any more information on it!
