AEM has had some quality issues in the past for sure. The old injector driver boxes used to fail pretty frequently and I know that's only o e of many they had issues with. But I know of a few running there new AEM infinity setup and seem to be happy and can't argue with the results although I don't think it was like that from the start. But I do feel all of them will have there good and bad points. PRO EFI's being the lack of documentation and some much needed training on tuning the software. D3 can handle all of that if your not looking to self tune and willing to let a shop do the install. Those were my basic points in my first post. Both of which I have issues with for me, but it's worked out ok. I do need to get a little more familiar with the software and how it operates. Like I said it's not a big DIY system like the Holley is for sure.

This is a tough question since all have pro's and con's. I have the Haltech going in my personal vehicle because I think the software and capabilities fit my needs best there, but other customers prefer the benefits of Proefi better for their needs/wants.
There is not set answer to this question IMHO.

We have done plenty of Corvette ProEFI installs as well as tunes here at D3PE.
Our Tuner, Chris Delgado, has been all over the world helping to set records using ProEFI.
- Ali K. resets the 1/2 mile Corvette, F-Body Camaro, and RWD Record.
- Hennessey Venom GT runs Worlds fastest 270.49 mph.
- Fastest CTS-V in the WORLD just went 8.33 @ 160 and still has a lot in it.
- Robert Taylor went 225.8 resetting the Gen 5 Camaro Record.
To answer the Question of if the ProEFI handles the 6l80 Transmission Torque Calculations is simple.
Yes, it does.
ProEFI communicates with the TCM and handles all Torque Management functions.
That function works for both the 6l80 and 6l90 Transmissions.
If you have any further questions you can give us a Call or Email.

Here's a sample of the Torque Management at work for 6l80/6l90 that we helped develop here in house with ProEFI!
Here is a FULL throttle launch leaving on the Foot Brake on the Limiter using Street Tires!
This proves how well the ProEFI Traction Control works even in a "Worst Case Scenario" situation.

I think it all depends on who is tuning and your access to resources.
If you want to ship your car to D3, do a Proefi. I'm not sure how much support or help they offer if you just order one through the mail.
AEMs new systems are good. The older stuff was hit and miss. I ran a Gen 1 old school original box on my DSM back in ~2000 and had no issues with it. Local tuner here runs them in all his cars. He travels competeing in racing series, and uses the infinity systems. He has a lot of track records, and loves the AEM. I've talked to him several time about different systems, and he doesn't like Proefi. When I started talking to him about it, based on feedback on here, he said it is just a history thing at this point. He did a bunch of them 6-7 years ago. A few had issues, and even though Proefi is a few miles away, they were useless for help, and blamed the tuner for hardware or software issues. Since then, they have updated all the bugs/issues he had issues with, but he won't use them just because it was all crap how they wouldn't do ****, claimed their stuff was perfect, then would update it later. He did say Chris D is the best Proefi tuner around, and it would just be a better company and could really take off if Chris could just buy out the company and handle all the sales/support.
Matt@FSP loves Haltechs. Has good support, and price is decent. I know CMS had issues with Haltech, and based off that I'm steering away.
It would be a coin toss and up to cost between AEM and Proefi at this point for me.

I would like to know how well these units work with aftermarket tcu's. I had RPM Transmission change out my 6l80 for a 4l60 about 2-3 years ago and have had a lot of problems with the TCU that was installed.
The problem with the car since the transmission change is it goes into reduced power mode when I do a burn out or experience excessive tire spin.

These are not something you shop for based on best price. Shop for service/support. Don't buy a proefi then go crying to D3 to help when you bought it elsewhere. Or buy a Haltech for $200 cheaper then goto Matt/Doug for help when help is needed.
Figure out which you want, figure who is going to tune it, and get the unit from them.

Holley is much more of a race car setup IMO.

Whatever your tuner likes. My local guy does aem so I'll do an aem when it is time, but stock ecu works so damn well I have zero urge to touch it. All of these still need stock ecu working so it doesn't solve your problems.
