who are you having make your 4th and 5th gears? any guess roughly on cost?

I've always been curious to have someone build either a taller 4th gear or a shorter 5th gear or something for 1/2 mile events. gearing in these cars is a little awkward in 4th and 5th for 800-900whp cars.

Tires
Some more strengthening under the body to limit flex. Possibly a hood.
Second 10lb Firefox system.
Have to add second parachute.
Possibly a couple additional bars to the cage.
And whatever else comes up??

Must be a rush to go that fast. I made some similar bracing that the C7 has underneath it. Haven't tested yet.

Currently working the options with RPM Transmissions.

It seems like a 3.15 rear would be perfect, but I would have to give up the ZR1 oversize gear and case.

3.15 would be ideal. You're not really drag launching the car, maybe go with a Z06 case, rock the other gear set. Probably what I will end up doing in my mile setup.

Cool build, looks like a lot of fun. What kind of half mile speeds are you hitting on the 214 to 220 mph one mile runs?

Unfortunately, I live really close to New England Dragway, so the temptation is there!

Not sure, we dont have a trap at the 1/2.. I could possibly calculate out of the data logs? The track is not ideal for launch (no burnout, slick surface) so I dont think it would be all that impressive.

Been awhile since I read the complete thread. What gear are you running now? I would think the 273 would be inline for roll racing with your power level.

Not with a ZR1 gear ration. 3.08 or 3.15 would be a better choice. If it was an MN6 than yes, a 2.73 would be an awesome choice.

3.42 rear gear.. Stock ZR1 in the trans, and I am using 6th gear.. This was about perfect up to 245mph..

I honestly didn't think I was going to progress this quickly. While I did build the car for 250, I really thought it would take more time/testing to get it to the stage it is at. Oh well, its just parts!

On the dyno the other day to test some parts.. Didnt go as planned.!
Tire blew around 180 mph, nice hole in the battery compartment and fiberglass bits everywhere!

you think strapping it down that much would of not helped the blow out?

Just found this... awesome build.

In your first post you talk about getting hooked on the "Mile". Been there and done that... with 2 cars at the Texas Mile. Not in your league though. I do have a bud that cracked 211 with twin turbo Hemi Challenger at the Texas mile.

Yeah, I cant blame the tires... Had them aired down and the strap over the push bar created a bunch of down pressure. It was also our first attempt at 5th gear on the dyno.

Door panels are almost 10lbs each not including the extra sound dampener and fiberglass removed.

Why would you run out 5th gear on the dyno?

Thanks.. I would love to have a second car at the track. Something off-the-wall, Model A or a Chevette or something.. Just to have some fun.

Boost comes on hard causing the tires to spin in 4th.. We were hoping it would lug a bit in 5th.. Was working good til the tire gave up.

My runs were in a stock 2010 Dodge Hemi R/T 153.9 and 2014 Cadillac ATS 2.0T 144.3. Thinking about running my 08 LS3.

OBTW -
1) New tune = 1300 ponies
2) New 4l80 trans
3) PB 1/4 - clicked off a 8.89 in the quarter with the same car he ran at the mile.

Would love to see you at the Texas Mile. It is moving from Beeville, TX to Victora, TX.

Now back to our regular scheduled programming..
