Default New shortblock blowing that oil

I have a c6z 07 that I put a 427 lsx block in with magnum crank, ultra h Rods, arp head bots, blah blah blah. Basically the best of the best with stock ls7 heads. It's also running a d1sc with 8 rib. Noticed with the new motor she's leaking somewhere. It does run high oil pressure under wot like 90psi. Wondering if you guys would have any clue on what to check. Thanks

A little vague there. Obviously, at least try and see what area it is leaking from. If you don't have crankcase pressure being relieved properly, its not uncommon to blow out a seal.

Way to vague to help. What type of crank case vent system? I went through 2 rear mains until I swapped to a mm can. The other "show" cans couldn't keep up with crank case pressure.

Well the LSX blocks have a super ****** rear cover design that uses a super janky little string of oring material and they tend to leak very very common problem. Just a guess, but it would be my first guess since you really didn't give any description. Also seen a lot of ppl not install the front covers on righ and not centering them up and leaking around the front seal. GL!

Best place to start is jacking up the car and looking for oil. It should be fairly easily to tell what area of the engine it is coming from; e.g. if oil is pooled up around the bell housing, chances are it is the rear cover, if oil is dripping from the cross member, chances are its coming from the front seal.

Did you get under the car yet to gather more info?

Some people have had issues with "That" oil. You should switch to "This" brand oil and give it a try.

Havent had the chance to get up under it yet. I'm running Valvoline oil right now. what ever erl recommends on there builds even though i'm a lsx build. I hope its not the rear mail seal or cover, vehicle has less then 600 miles on the new build
what oil do you recommend to run?

The Valvoline Racing oils are pretty good oils, and they have multiple weights to suit most needs. I run the Rotella T6 in most of my cars as for the money and being able to find locally its hard to beat.

Yea I would just worry about the valves failing a taking out that badass rotating assembly. It's all a risk in the HP game anyways.

I just went through this on a build with similar miles from a reputable shop and it turned out to be the rear cover. Look for oil dripping from the bellhousing/starter area. The part is only ~$60 but it takes 15-20 hours of labor to get the job done if you tackle it yourself.

Head work has been done with retainers and titanium valves. Thought you were referring to it being ported or not. My bad.

Say it's the rear main cover or rear main seal. Will it hurt to drive the vehicle as long as I watch the oil level?

Well not really, but if its a manual its going to mess up the clutch more than likely depending on how much its leaking and how long you drive it like that. If its an auto then its just going to make a huge mess under and on the back of the car. So if your talking about driving it to a shop to get it fixed or something like that I wouldn't hesitate. But if your thinking I'll fix it later, then its one of those things you want to fix sooner rather than later. GL!

Did you install the rear cover or did the engine builder? Doesn't sound like the rear main seal was centered properly.
